Friday Funnies

The Djokovic debacle has done Australia no credit. It is a simple rule, no vaccination, no entry to Australia. There are a couple of exceptions, Djokovic met none. It should have been simple. He should have never been granted a visa before he arrived and even if he chanced it, he should have been on the next flight home. How was it all strung out for so so long? I don't like the Minister for Immigration reasons for deporting him, but I am pleased he has gone.

The internet wags, not WAGS, came out creatively. The first photo was used by Caro at Sparkling Merlo

  1. I loathe our Minister for Immigration's reasons for deporting him - they really need to clean up their own back yard. However, like you, I am pleased he is gone and he should never have been allowed in.

    1. EC, as I said, it should have been such a simple matter, instead Australia looks so bad.

  2. This whole non-vax thing is driving me crazy. I just don't get people making a big deal out of getting a vaccine that saves lives.

    1. Sandra, we did it here for polio and no one argued.

  3. The kangaroo clearly roots first and asks for proof of vaccination later (or never).

  4. I don't know if you have such an expression in Australia but in England we would say that Novax was taking the piss. The clamour of the Serbian community in Melbourne was outrageous.

    1. WWW, I liked the Border Security one. I reckon Raffa would have been amused at 'his' discomfort.

  6. I LOVE Border Security. All those idiots who have been living in Australia for years and travelling back and forth to their home countries yet STILL don't know the rules about bringing in illegal foods. And those who declare nothing but sweat rivers and when brought to a private room for a strip search suddenly remember the 2kg of drugs strapped to their thighs or shove into one orifice or another.

    1. I enjoy the show too River. What we need to remember is how many get through without being caught, and there are a lot.

  10. I really hate to hear about the rich, famous, powerful being allowed to break rules the rest of us would be pinched for. I'm happy he was sent packing in the end.

    1. So would I have TP. Well, not allowed to arrive in the first place.

  12. LOL -- funny memes! I agree this whole episode was way too drawn out and he shouldn't have been given a visa in the first place.

    1. Steve, while the visa would have been automatically generated, surely there would have been a flag on his name.

  13. I am glad Djokovic was sent home. I mean, he was trying to run round the rules, because he thinks he is special. He has done this many times. Bravo for Australia sending him packing. Now France, England and USA have all adopted the same requirements for tennis players!
