Weather

As I type this it is raining outside, 13 ml since 9am, over half an inch. In many countries people would say, it's f***ing raining again. But here in Australia we will say 'Oh well, we need the rain", even if we have floods.

I didn't know of rain yesterday but there must have been for a rainbow to form.

  1. Dancing in the rain, do you think of Jean Kelly or Ricky Martin?

    1. TP, of course Gene Kelly. I don't remember Ricky dancing in the rain. Did he take his clothes off?

  2. We've had buckets here too, long overdue in our unseasonably hot summer. Overnight. Thoughtful of it. It's cleared up now.

    1. Gosia, stay inside then. A big dog could hurt your head if it hit you.

  4. Yeah, we'd be saying that here too. And we do need rain. We may get some next week, I hear.

  6. This may be a stupid question, but is rain required for a rainbow? Or is it enough to have moisture in the atmosphere but not falling to earth? Hmmmm...

    1. Steve, I think so but maybe just moisture can produce a rainbow, although I am not sure how the atmosphere could get so wet without it raining.

    2. high humidity might do it.

  7. We have been having plenty of rain here, mostly steady drizzles during the day, then after dark it really comes down hard, quite cosy to listen to while I'm snuggled up in several doonas with a warm cat next to me. Skies are dull grey here today so more rain is on the way.

    1. River, that is a bit unusual for you I think. Mostly forecasts of showers here have come to nothing but it was proper rain last night. I note your airport recorded the coldest day ever in your city.
