The return of 2020

I hope this excellent effort by ABC Radio broadcaster Sammy J is viewable in all countries. There is a couple of references to explain.

Our Prime Minister Morrison said I think late last year that it wasn't a race to get everyone vaccinated. Now with COVID outbreaks in four of our states, the worst in Sydney, he has apologised for saying that and pretty well admitted drug companies should have been lobbied harder for Australia to receive more doses. The Gladys (Berejiklian, Premier of New South Wales) reference is about her being too slow to lock Sydney down, which is has seen over 100 new infections on some days last week.

  1. Clever. And true.
And while 'it is not a race' I did notice (and resent) that our PM got his choice of vaccine. Early.

    1. PM did get his does quite early. I don't know how old he is, maybe entitled. I think he received AZ. I really don't have a problem with a PM, this one who I detest, having an early vax.

    2. He had Pfizer. Despite at the time coming into AZ's age group.

    3. All of the "front liners" got the Pfizer, every single worker in the hospital my daughter works at got the Pfizer regardless of age.

  5. 99% of the deaths in the USA are people who chose not to be vaccinated, and still we have people who refuse.

    1. TP, I've been looking at US stats. Trump states = non vaxxers = high infection rates = deaths. Effing idiots.

  6. Sorry to change the subject for a second. Did you see that John Coates creature being vulgar to the Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk at a public conference? It was then repeated on tv stations everywhere.

    1. I did see that Hels. I would rephrase your comment as 'that vulgar creature John Coats'.

  7. I hope vaccines are becoming more available and people are taking them. That's going to be the way out of this mess. Yes, the vaccinated can still get Covid, but they don't get as sick and there are questions about how well they can pass it along.

    1. Steve, I note Canada has opened its borders to vaccinated people. In time it will be that anyone who isn't vaccinated will be very disadvantaged, and serves them right.

  8. We've had zero cases here for quite a while and about 80% of the province vaccinated BUT travelers are now pouring in. Also Ireland has had a huge upsurge, along with the UK.

This song is brilliant. Especially the line about Tokyo games. (We're all quite barking mad obv)

    1. WWW, 80% is an amazing figure. We hear the figures from the UK. Worse is the disaster on our doorstep in Indonesia.

    1. Jackie, it has been a hard road for you with such a lockdown. It seems lockdowns can be limited to a couple or a few weeks if it is a very hard and well policed lockdown.

  10. Me and mine are fully vaccinated but it will be interesting to see what happens next. There is such a resistance to the vaccine and I really don't understand it. Why do people insist on learning the hard way?

    1. Debby, it is perplexing to me. Some of your states have both terrible COVID numbers and very low vaccination levels.

  11. It certainly feels like 2020 in Sydney Andrew and it won't get any better until the knobs that are rioting pull their heads in. Had to laugh, we had a small protest here, but it was a car convoy protest, safe distancing.. that's why we're Covid free.. for now!

    1. Grace, what was the point of a protest in Perth? You've barely tasted lockdowns. Effwits.
