Friday Frivolity

Oh those Spanish! Doesn't this look like a fun wedding to attend and how good does everyone look. The woman in polka dots is mesmerising. Sorry Grace, but here we go again.

Later: No it was only Thursday when this was published. I blame Lock Down Lunacy.

Yesterday morning I watched a YouTube video of the train trip from Lisbon to Porto, in Portugal. By the look of the train, it was the same model high speed tilt train we caught for the same journey a few years ago. The tilt was unnoticeable and for various reasons it rarely reached its capable speed and ended up being quite late. It's nice to look back at some blog posts. http://highriser.blogspot.com/2017/05/europe-17-day-6.html

We loved Portugal and Spain. While my favourite city in the world is possibly Vienna, to be practical, where best to live in the world is a different matter. Spain is rather tempting, but I would go for Portugal. It's just an easier place to be.

Then the rabbit hole of YouTube opened up and somehow I was looking at videos of  Portuguese soccer star Ronaldo. Gosh he is is nice looking and as Madonna almost sang, He has style, he has grace, he indeed gives very good face. He seems so tolerant of his fans as well as being kind to children.

Love him, well I did until I saw a photo of the disgusting act of being down on his knee on the soccer field and urinating. How long is a soccer half? Players' bladders can't hold out for 45 minutes? Or two hours? Further checking indicates maybe he did not and his bits just fell out of his shorts but he was caught urinating in a street in St Tropez.

Still, if he proposed marriage to me and wanted me to have his babies.....

  1. The wedding looks like a heap of fun. I hope the couple enjoyed themselves as much as their guests.
Ronaldo doesn't float my boat. You are welcome to him.

    1. EC, it looks like huge fun. Truthfully, I only want Ronaldo as a handbag, an expensive and stylish accessory.

  2. YouTube is always interesting for virtual journeys -- although this one went to quite unexpected places!

    1. PS -- Ronaldo looks like he spends too much time in a beauty salon. Plus, doesn't he own a vacuum cleaner?

    2. It sure is Steve.
He always has perfectly plucked eyebrows and is obviously wearing make up for this shoot.
I'm afraid I don't get the vacuum cleaner reference.

  3. Ronaldo looks like a stuffy vain person, so you are welcome to him. PS: good luck on housebreaking him.

    1. River, I expect it was a surprise to the guests and perhaps the bridal pair. It's so good to see people having fun.

  6. One of my teachers at Prep' School (under 14) used to say "If a man can't hold his water, he ought to be shot".

    1. A little extreme, Cro, but I do get his point. It was obviously before he developed prostate or other problems for older men.

  7. Fun video. Roaldo is great to watch playing but his behaviour is disgusting. I saw men urinating in the street in Italy. I liked Portugal better than Spain.

    1. Diane, I don't like to see men doing that in the street either, and god the smell from some of our quiet off street areas!!! We only saw Barcelona, so I can't judge Spain by one city, but I liked it better in Lisbon and Porto.

    1. The one with the black bra, Margaret? Aside from that, after checking, I see what you mean.

  9. I often try to think of which are my favourite nations, or even cities. You clearly loved Portugal and Spain, and Vienna for the best city.

I divide it into places to be a very happy tourist in Vs places that I would like to live in forever. To tour again and again - Vancouver, Boston, London, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Paris, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, St Petersburg, Delhi and Auckland. This was of course all pre-Covid.

    1. Hels, so many of those cities I have been and loved, except for Amsterdam which I found so dirty. I would add Budapest to your list, never mind its current government.

  11. Oh my gosh the lady in the spotted dress was faaaaabulous Andrew, what a stunning figure and smile. That was such a fun video, I'm happy to go down those rabbit holes 😀 Ronaldo, nah, even as an expensive handbag guaranteed his strap wouldn't last long 😉

  12. Spotted dress was just terrific Grace. How good it would be to say to Ronaldo, your strap has broken and I'm bored with you, piss orf. One, two....three four five...

  13. What a fun wedding, great dancers, love that song!
Not a fan of spoiled soccer players, but I have to say Ronaldo is more than generous to a lot of charity institutions. He came from a very humble background, has load of money but also gives a lot away, which not all rich people do. Looked back at your post about your trip to Lisbon and Porto. That industrial looking station is "Oriente station", beautiful but can get very windy if you have to stand there waiting for a train in winter. The area around it was the area of the Expo 98 world fair, and it's still a beautiful area to visit.

    1. Sami, yes in the YouTube I watched of a recent trip by someone went on quite a bit about Oriente Station and it does look wonderful, even if not so practical. That's not so unusual.
