Sunday Selections

Joining with Elephant's Child and River for Sunday Selections and a quick and easy balloon themed on this week. The balloons went up in Fawkner Park, which is a lot more photogenic than when they land there. Dawn is arriving later, in this case 7am, so I was up to take photos and I am quite pleased with them.

  1. Ooooh. How I would have loved to see that. Our balloon spectacular is underway but Covid restrictions may mean I am unable to see them this year. I have a ticket booked but the forecast suggests it will be raining that day and they will stay grounded.

    1. I would not go up in one of those balloons... too nervous! But the image from below, as seen in the photos, is stunning.

    2. We did about fifteen years ago Dora. It was ok.

    3. Thanks Hels. It is a bit risky but we did it and survived our almost crash landing.

  4. Very nice. I like the colour splash when they boost the flame for more hot air.

    1. River, it looks amazing in real life when the flame goes off. I can hear it at times too.

  5. Great fun; we took a balloon flight about 20 years ago. Spectacular.

    1. Cro, I wouldn't do it again but we took a flight about 15 years ago and it was good.

    1. Kirk, only for a select few who have a view. Most are quite nonchalant about balloon flights and take little notice.

  8. Very nice photos Andrew. That third one is excellent but so is the 2nd. I think the 2nd photo is my favorite in fact. Last night, on the antenna channel Dabl, the cook man was in Melbourne and visited Jimmy Grants. Thee owner gave a history of the name that it comes from Immigrants. Just with J added. Do you know the place? Sells kind of fatty Greek food? I know, Melbourne is large, but just wondered.

    1. Strayer, to my surprise I did not know it. There were at least three of them and they have all closed now.

  9. Nice shots! I like the ones that show the glow of the burners (or whatever they're called). Why does every balloon have a corporate logo?

    1. Steve, I guess they are just company advertising for which would be paid. I can't remember seeing one for years without a corporate logo.
