Socialising

It is a very long time since aside from Mother and ABI Brother that R has cooked a meal for anyone other than us. Our Hairdresser Friend suggested a Scotch night and R decided to invite her for dinner before we take the sup of the devil. Of course it must all be perfect, which is why I don't like him cooking for others. I asked to 'drag' up her makeup, so it will be interesting to see how she looks. She is travelling here and back home by tram too.

So, not much time to write a post this Saturday evening. I will just post a couple of photos I left out of my post when we visited Torquay. It was a real head turner as it clattered into the carparking area. Isn't it just a ripper!

  1. I hope that dinner went well - for all of you.
    And love that VW.

  2. What the hell is a ripper? I thought it was something to do with the sea...a high tide or a big curling wave. I hope the meal goes well. Don't drink too much Scotch as it is not good for one's liver.

    1. YP, ripper means really good. It must be an Australian word. Yes, so my doctor tells me about Scotch.

  3. What, pray tell, is "the sup of the devil?"

    1. Cynthia, if #45 invited you for dinner at the Whitehouse, you would be supping with the devil. I think it means eating or drinking, or just socialising.

  4. As our numbers rise (between 475-525 per day), they have now closed the borders between States. I think it is ironic that Massachusetts says no more New Hampshirites can come in unless they quarantine for 14 days as Massachusetts has had far more cases and deaths than we have!

Hope dinner was good. I'm making meatloaf and scalloped potatoes.

    1. Maribeth, all these closures should have happened much earlier before things got out of control. Corona fatigue indeed.

    2. Oh Andrew, I so agree! We all were begging our governor to shut down our border, but then the Governor of Massachusetts said that was illegal! All in all, the entire Covid-19 things has been mishandled from the very start!

    1. Dinner was lovely. R was worried conversation would not flow, but his sangrias with brandy ensured it did so. I had 20th century You Tube music on the tv.

  6. Sigh... I remember what socialising used to mean. Dinners out used to be such fun.

  8. LOVE the Kombi, which brings back memories of our yellow one, where each child had a window seat and a space between so there was no fighting. Great for travelling to visit grandparents and roomy enough for all our groceries.

  11. Have you seen the tents that look exactly like a VW camper? They're wonderful. I want one, even though I would never use it.

  12. Oh, that VW van is a blast from the past. Did any hippies emerge from it?

    1. Kirk, don't get yourself excited. Not quite a hippy. The man was about 30 with a neat few day beard growth and long curly dark hair. I suppose he had female companion but I didn't notice.

  14. Neat old VW, they are developing a modern version, either rechargeable electric or hybrid, that should be out in the next year or two.
