Monday Mural

Check out Sami's Monday Mural here. I could have taken a single photo of this mural in Torquay but a man insisted on standing in my way. Ok, I have found this about who the people in the mural are, "Mick Fanning, Tyler Wright and Gabriel Medina on the front of the Bells Beach Rip Curl store'.

The artist MADSTEEZ or Mark Paul Deren seems to rather like the colour purple and I quite like his looks. He is a surfer dude, hails from North America and is blind in one eye.

  1. It's pretty impressive he can do such large-scale pieces when he's blind in one eye. You'd think that would really mess with his perspective. Wonder if he's blind from surfing?!

    1. Steve, if he's been blind in one for a long time maybe the other can compensate.

    2. But you need two eyes to see depth. I don't think one eye can do that by itself!

  2. Echoing Steve. I would think that his sight issues would impact on his surfing too.

  4. Yes, he's easy on the eye(s)!! Reminds me of the surfer guy that was on My Kitchen Rules a few years ago, who had only one eye. Ash Keillah also known as The Friendly Pirate.

  9. Blind in one eye, how'd that happen? He's a good looker and I like his work.

  10. A very nice mural. I quite like the colour purple too, but rarely buy or wear it. A near neighbour loves purple and has many purple clothes, purple petunias in her garden and she has purple hair too.

    1. River, it is a hard colour to wear for most. Your neighbour sounds 'interesting'.

    1. Diane I really wonder if it makes a difference being blind in one eye.

  14. I do like this trend of large murals on buildings. We have a wonderful Adam Goodes mural not far from where I live. And I saw on Twitter today, there's a mural of Jimmy Little on a water tower at Walgett. More public art, I say.

  15. Pleased about the Goodes mural especially that it is good. Not sure who Jimmy Little is.

  16. Instead of taking pictures of other people's murals, why don't you create your own mural Andrew? As well as spray paints and a rough drawing you will also need your own "tag". May I suggest PRINZA after your namesake/twin Prince Andrew.

    1. Why don't I YP? Because I don't have any artistic talent at all. No also to being associated with Prince Andrew for obvious reasons.

  17. I quite like the unusual purple mural. The artist obviously love purple as even his jacket is purple :)
A nice tribute to the surfers. Thanks Andrew :)
