I don't find him at all funny....I never have. To me he is a bit of a self-serving smart arse who isn't as smart or as funny as he believes himself to be.
Cheryl, I heard what I thought wasn't a bad explanation for the extreme place nursing home care now is, in that that with good intentions they wanted a less hospital like place for residents and more like a home. Noble intentions at least, but we know how wrong it has gone.
Wow $23 an hour. I make $15 and actual the company I work for is one higher paid one. But there a lot of trouble with our homes for our older population. Quite sad
Dora, as Cheryl says below and our cost of living is higher with say two hours of work at $23 enough to buy a packet of cigarettes or a bottle of spirits.
Cheryl, it is such an oranges and apples thing. Our housing costs here are much higher too if the mindless US house flipping shows from the US are to be believed, even adjusting for how old the shows are.
Margaret, I can't remember if he mentioned it, but there isn't a requirement to have any nursing home medical staff on duty at all, ever. That is outrageous.
Gentle, biting and very, very true.
ReplyDeleteI can think of a few people who SHOULD watch Sammmy. Quite a few people.
EC, me too.

ReplyDeleteSorry to hear Lee, but I expect there will be more of him here.
DeleteNot at all funny :(
ReplyDeleteRiver, we can only hope we die peacefully in our sleep at home but we know most of us won't.
DeleteI totally agree with you, Sammy J is a brilliant satirist. He is spot on in this vid about the shocking state of aged care.

Delete$23 in Australia is equivalent to just over $16 in the United States with today's exchange rates.

DeleteI see where he's coming from, that's about it.

DeleteOver half of the COVID19 deaths in the County I live in are in nursing homes.
ReplyDeleteTravel, somewhat less here but not much. It is interesting that the US does nursing home care so much better than we do.
