Oh gosh. I said something wrong, apparently putting R down and he exploded. We were talking about a new washing machines and combined dryer and we have decided we will go down this path. I expect he will be ok in the morning. We can't have no speakies for a week when under COVID threat and restrictions.
Better I keep my mouth shut tonight as nothing I will say will be right.
We've been looking online at retail stores that are closed but may open next Monday. We don't know. You can still choose an appliance online and have it delivered. While I will always want to personally shop for clothes and many other things, I think the model of retail stores for electrical appliances is about to be broken. This is why, a copy of the email I sent R.
I hope the storm between you and R blows over quickly.
ReplyDeleteAnd good luck with the shiny new appliance. Having the old ones taken away is definitely a win. A big win.
Storm over EC. Had to co-operate to disconnect the old and clean.
DeleteOh dear does he sulk? I cannot abide sulkers
ReplyDeleteJohn, just doesn't speak unless is yelling. I am used to it but I rarely think it is justified.
DeleteI've worked in/adjacent to electrical appliances since I was 13 years old. There is no way I would ever buy a combo machine. :) Those two jobs are very different things and I would want them to be done in separate units.
ReplyDeleteBut it is your washer/dryer. :)
Snoskred, I know, I know. And we have the space for separate stack units, but we figure it is not a huge amount of money and if in a few years we really don't like it, then can go back to separate units.
DeleteI've bought two washing machines, top loader Samsung and a fridge from Appliance Online. We have been really happy with their good service, however I would look at their laundry packages which offer good deals on washing machines and dryers rather than a combo.
ReplyDeleteCheryl, you gave me confidence and we have ordered one, delivered tomorrow, and I am so far very impressed.
DeleteWe only have a small washer not a lot of washing and I do like my clothes dried in the fresh air so no knowledge of dryers.
ReplyDeleteMerle........
Merle, drying in fresh air is a distant memory for me, but we used to.
DeleteThere are certainly pluses and the minuses
ReplyDeleteIf you have lots of washing to do then you have to wait till the drying is done before you can start washing again.
On the other hand you dont have to get up to move clothes from washer to dryer you can just stay in front of the telly (assuming there is a continuous cycle? surely there must be)
be a good thing where space is limited, like a studio apartment or something
Ian, we don't. Maybe three to four loads a week. Yes it is continuous washing then drying but drying will only be used for socks and jocks, and bedding.
DeleteAre you able to stop the machine to take out items or does it finish a wash cycle then go straight into the drying cycle?
DeleteOnly real old appliance we have is a fridge.
ReplyDeleteDora, old fridges cost so much more to run, but I suppose there isn't spare money after your new car.
DeleteI wash all shirts, undies, stockings etc in the bath or shower, and on weekends send sheets and towels to the local laundry. I do it to reuse bath water sensibly.
ReplyDeleteHels, why not a washing machine?
DeleteThat's a nice looking machine. I'm sorry to hear R has exploded, is it possible for all the king's horses and all the king's men to put him back together again?
ReplyDeleteRiver, he is put back together again 😀
DeleteP.S.I also prefer separate machines, but when space is tight and you don't need to do more than one load on any wash day, the combo should be fine.
ReplyDeleteWe do have the space but we wash so little now neither of us is working.
DeleteSorry R had to 'do it' again, never mind, time will fix.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a nice machine/dryer. Rather fond of Samsung myself.
Margaret, that is what R said. We like our Samsung phones.
DeleteYou can get a washer and dryer in the same machine? Next I suppose you'll be telling me you can take snapshots with a telephone.
ReplyDeleteKirk, I suppose your camera has the brand name Brownie on the side.
DeleteYour assessment of Miele appliances is correct. You pay more but they tend to last longer - which could be cheaper in the long-run!
ReplyDeleteCLICK HERE for Bazza’s punctually perfidious Blog ‘To Discover Ice’
Thanks Bazza, but when a two in one is so unknown to us, I am nor sure we are going for long lasting.
DeleteOur Samsung washing machine had to be replaced earlier this year just after three years old. It kept stgopping mid-cycle. At one point we thought we'd solved the problem by recalibrating, but it kept coming back - circuit board issue - repair was too expensive. We got a new Bosch.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of other dissatisfied customers online.
DeleteTasker, now you tell me. Here, even though outside the two year warranty period, if a washing machine failed in three years, consumer affairs would be on your side and it would probably be replaced.
DeleteIt was just after three years - as with many other complaints online. It might not be too late to buy an extended warranty. For most appliances they are not worthwhile, but washer dryers are now so 'clever' that they might be justifiable for the peace of mind. We got one for our new machine.
DeleteLooking forward to hearing how the delivery goes and how it it works. Keeping peace at home, can be complicated.
ReplyDeleteWhat Travel? I thought you had the perfect relationship and never a cross word.
DeleteWell Shoot, This Is Such A Volatile Time Frame And I Am Truly Sorry You Two Aren't On The Same Page - Right Or Wrong, You Are Much Stronger As A Team - Stressing Over $$$$ So Sucks - Sending Some Love And Light Your Way And Sure Hope The New Appliances Paint A Brighter Future - You Both Deserver It - Now, Throw On Your Mask And Enjoy An Easy Walk
ReplyDeleteCheers
Over it now Padre. You'll be pleased to know I am fitter than I have been for a long time, thanks to ISO walking.
DeleteI Am Pleased - Good On You - Proud of Ya - Now Hurry Up - Just Joshing Around - Seriously, Very Pleased With Your Efforts
DeleteCheers
My cousin did not like her 2 in one. She usually goes to the laundry. (There is one in her building) She only used the machine for her undies and socks.
ReplyDeleteBut good luck. I hope it works for you!
Time will tell Maribeth. Thanks.
DeleteSorry about his explosion. Oh, well. I think your choice is a good one.
ReplyDeleteGigi, after 41 years I am used to it...almost.
DeleteAfter such an extended period of lockdown I'm not surprised nerves are a bit frazzled. Good luck with your appliances. Another reason we're so happy to rent -- we just call the landlord! (Who fortunately, in our case, is relatively responsive to appliance issues.)
ReplyDeleteInteresting Steve. Mostly here rented properties don't come with such appliances.
DeleteThe Samsung combo looks very smart Andrew, not too bad a price either. Did you mention the name of your previous machine that lasted 15 years, I'd get that make again 😊 Hope by now you and R are all made up again 💙
ReplyDeleteGrace, the old dryer was a Simpson and the washing machine a Fisher and Paykel. F&P used to be an NZ company but now owned by the huge Chinese corp, Haier.
DeleteI had no idea there are machines that both wash and dry. Now I know!
ReplyDeleteStrayer, space savers and probably not much need for them in suburban America.
