Monday Mural

While out exploring pre COVID I went into this pub at a tram terminus and bought a gin and tonic. I took my g&t outside into the warmth and passed the time. Do you think I can find the pub at a tram terminus using anything online? I am puzzled and no doubt my memory is defective in some aspect.

It is not a great work of art, but I like it for its simplicity.

  1. Its simplicity and its nod to our first peoples gets a nod from me.
It is years since I have had a G & T, which is odd because I like them very much.

  2. At first glance, before enlarging the pic, I thought they were a couple of kidneys! :)

I've never liked gin. If a martini was on order...it was always a vodka martini for me. Many a year has passed since I've had one of those, too!

    1. Lee, each to their own. While I will drink a vodkatini, I prefer a martini....stirred not shaken.

  3. I think that's the first piece of Aboriginal Art that I've seen used as a mural. There should be more.

    1. Cro, we probably have quite a lot. Once we are allowed out and about again I will try to find some.

  4. Interesting art work, I wonder what it means? White people's first sight of kangaroos and emus?

  6. I’m glad Lee made the comment about kidneys because that’s what I thought as well :)
And it’s probably not the proper question to ask but is it outside the toilets? Looks like it’s telling the ‘men which one to use......(goes away quietly)

    1. Cathy, I see photos on the desktop, not a laptop, so I didn't see the kidney thing, but I see what you mean. Yes, go away quietly lovey, nothing to do with the lavvies.

  7. Interesting work of art, is it aliens? One is a bird, the other??. Why do we imagine that aliens would look like humans, standing up on two feet with heads and eyes in a head?

    1. Aboriginal art, Travel. A kangaroo and and an emu. If there are aliens, I doubt they would look like us at all.

  9. The smell of gin takes me back to my first drink out in Ireland on a trip with my parents in 1970. What a pain in the ass I was on that trip!!! I wanted to stay home with my boyfriend. Two years later I took him on his first trip ever overseas to Ireland!!!
    Still love the smell.

  11. I had a similar type etching back when, no idea what happened to it. I always loved the smell of gin, but never could handle the taste. Mother's Ruin they called it in Ireland.

    1. WWW, yes I have heard of the term Mother's Ruin. I am not sure why mother's would drink as unlike vodka, you can smell it on breath. Maybe it dates back to the huge gin problem in London.

  12. I like it. Is it recent, or is it something originally prehistoric (like the cave drawings of bison) that's been copied on to a wall? I obviously know nothing about aboriginal art.
