Monday Mural

John Murray is a well known muralist and artist and has public works in the east of Australia. Here are two of his works I came across and of course I told myself at the time I would remember where they were but I cannot. They don't appear in the database of his works, but there are similar ones. I like them. Don't you think the reflections in the emu's eyes is clever.

  1. Very clever. I like that the reflections show 'emu country' too.
Sigh at the tagger. Mostly our public art seems to avoid their attention. Mostly.

  2. Yes, as Elephant's Child says, it's very clever.

  3. To me, they're not very attractive, but the reflections in the eyes is cleverly done, I do admit.

I replied to your Mary River query in your previous post, too, Andrew.

    1. Lee, thanks. Of course I know you lived in Gympie, but I was curious about the river.

  4. They're a bit 'OMG look at that' - strange and in your face. I wonder what the artist had in mind when he painted them.
One of my daughters has paintings by Peter Browne who also has a particular interest in Emus.

    1. Cathy, we have a Peter Browne painting too. We met him at a market stall in Hahndorf (my name is Browne and I paint in brown). I had it valued a few years ago and it was disappointing.

  5. Obviously no love between graffiti artists. Someone is quite happy to put squiggles over another's work.

  15. I do Andrew, very clever little detail the eye reflections. I like his comical style, heaven help us we need a bit of humour these days 😊
