Logie Laugh

I don't think i have ever voted in TV show Logie awards. the gold logie is usually won by a popular commercial tv personality. this year it was won by our ABC, the national government broadcaster, comedian tom gleeson. he kind of set out his campaign to win to send up the awards, and he did so very successfully. i thought his campaign was such a hoot, i decided to go online and vote.

i think many others then did what i did and voted in all categories for ABC tv shows and presenters, resulting in ABC cleaning up many of the awards. mind they did deserve to win but would not normally.

  1. I too have never voted in the Logies. Glad that the ABC did so well this year. Perhaps (just perhaps) this will send a message that it is valued.

  4. I've never voted in the Logies nor the Oscars either, things like that don't interest me. Usually whoever wins is someone I've never heard of anyway.

  5. I've never voted either, but enjoyed watching the Logies and the winner and his funny speech.

  6. Though the programs were all very good, I also suspect there was a "protest vote" in favour of the ABC in the popular categories. I thought Tom Gleeson was hilarious.

  7. To avoid ads, I watch only proper (government) channels, or I tape some commercial channels and fast forward through the ads. But more than that, as you say... The ABC, SBS and the BBC have brilliant programmes in their own right!

  9. I voted too for the ABC except in the Outstanding Supporting Actor where our very own Bernard Curry was nominated. Alas he didn't win but his show did win the Outstanding Drama award for the third year in a row. Wentworth. He and his brother Steve also made a presentation.

    1. We tuned in late and missed them. I saw something recently about Steve but I can't remember what.

Before you change something, find out why it is the way it is in the first place - unknown.
