The Hillbillies
Blame Dora. She mentioned hillbilly in a comment. Go on. Click play. You can't resist .It doesn't start until about 30 seconds and bonus, the closing credits and perhaps like me you have forgotten the very last bit about who made the film.

Cathy, they really did seem like they were enjoying themselves. Rather skilled actors actually.

WWW, well I won't ask your age, but I was pretty young when this type of show was on tv, and I enjoyed them. Somewhere along the way I stopped liking US tv and movies.
DeletePersonally, I was more keen on Ellie-Mae (sp?).

DeleteI used to LOVE that show, I might have to look it up and see if I can get a dvd copy. Jethro was nice looking enough, but not really handsome, I remember I used to like Granny with her boots, shotgun and 'old farm' attitude.

DeleteI didn't like very many American tv programmes back then, and was encouraged to watch British and Australian shows instead. But now I think it might have been a bit of snobbery - the Clampetts spoke badly, dressed badly and were a bit uncivilised.

ReplyDeleteI still find that show funny, even if the movie Deliverance does make that particular kind of hillbilly seem a bit dated now.
Kirk, the tv show and Deliverance is pretty well our full knowledge of hillbillies. Well, some mountains called the Ozarks come to mind too.
