The famous are in Melbourne
Yes, well, the tennis players are here for the Australian Open. Go Raffie. I've never saved photos of Andy Murray, or I don't think any other tennis player. I wonder how old Rafael was in this photo. He has aged somewhat..........so have all the other male players. Why aren't there top young players like there used to be? While I don't love watching the tennis, I look forward to the atmosphere in Melbourne every year when the Australian Open is played.
But I came across this photo of a world famous gay porn star pulling a silly face and strutting his stuff along Southbank. I really don't suggest you do any searching about him (name deleted), but how cool that Melbourne attracts so many different people. Axel then did the Great Ocean Road drive and he and his three mates could not find anywhere to stay as everything was booked out. I expect the kindness of strangers prevailed.

That is a very silly face. Hopefully the wind didn't change.
ReplyDeleteIndeed EC, and it looks like he may have had a late night. Bright sunlight can be so cruel.
DeleteAndrew, You are surely old enough to remember Lew Hoad and Ken Rosewall. Need I write more? Roderick
ReplyDeleteRoderick, I know a little about them, but they really are before my time, but clearly not yours. 😁
DeleteHas the caravan arrived already? Loads of them seem to be 'strutting their stuff' in other states at the moment. Some with good results- others bringing out the same excuses. Unfortunately in my mind our current top young ones seem to be very full of themselves
ReplyDeleteRaffle has aged very nicely don't you think
Cathy no, not yet. But weren't Cash and Hewitt rather full of themselves too? Rafter, seemed a bit more natural, but relying on memory for such things is full of problems.
DeleteYes, I like the bit older Raffie too. He still has the cheekiness and almost a naivety about him, although I very much doubt that is the case.
I also agree that Rafael Nadal is a hunk. No matter how you look at it!
ReplyDeleteMaribeth, as R uses an old quote to cover such things, A Cat can look at a Queen.
DeleteHappy New Year from Poland Andrew.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gosia. I hope you have a good 2019.
DeleteI like winter sports better always good to sit in front of the tv in a blanket and cheer them on or tell them how stupid they are, to hot to watch active sport at the moment , but you are right no good looking stars at the moment. Merle..........
ReplyDeleteMerle, you like to see them suffer in bad weather.
DeleteI love all sports that don't involve intentional damage. So tennis and cricket are brilliant... wrestling and boxing are less appealing.
ReplyDeleteHels, I agree. How can it be a sport to hurt another person? What message does that send to the youf?
Delete"I have always depended on the kindness of strangers", - A Streetcar Named Desire. Surely the mantra of any gay guy out cruising. Of course the response is "I don't want realism, I want magic.' - Ian
ReplyDeleteYep Ian, and we keep on looking for that magic, time and time again, but seldom find it.
DeleteEnjoy:)
ReplyDeleteSandra, I try to make enjoy my life mantra, and mostly succeed.
DeleteDon't mind watching the tennis when it's on, but also can leave it.
ReplyDeleteMargaret, I don't really watch any sport, but as I said, I live the atmosphere here when the tennis is on.
DeletePeople who poke out their tongues for the camera should be spanked. Of course many of them might like that...
ReplyDeleteI think it's a terrible habit and not at all pretty.
River, you could put chilli powder on their tongue when they poke it out, but then they might like that too. I may have poked out my tongue when I was a kid, but I can't really remember.
DeleteYou Bet, Federation Square is electrifying during larger events. Visit for me and snap off a few photos. We hit -15c for our high today so I only dream of driving the Great Ocean Road towards the 12 Apostles.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Padre, I am very impressed with your knowledge of my city. 42c here tomorrow, and then a cool change. I don't think I really want -15 though, although you do look look rather attractive with snow and ice on your beard. I better stop there.
DeleteHahahahaha funny that he assumed he could find accommodation! Bless
ReplyDeleteFen, a tourist thing, I think. Like can we hire a car and have lunch in Perth tomorrow, when they are in Melbourne.
DeleteI've only ever been to a female Tennis championship final (Free tickets). A good friend was the world's top tennis photographer, and had freebies by the bucket load. I also once had two tickets to a Wimbledon men's final, but couldn't go. I didn't give the tickets to anyone, and met with some really angry tennis fans, who would have offered me their right arms!
ReplyDeleteCro, and possibly lots of cash too, which surely as an artist, you are always in need of.
DeleteYup!
DeleteLooking forward to watching this year's AO (on television). But right now I'm enjoying Brisbane and Perth!
ReplyDeleteWalt, well, Raffie is out of that, it seems. Like the best bride, he is saving himself for Melbourne.
DeleteWas looking forward to the Aussie Open Andrew. But it sounds like we may not be getting it on tv this year. Just like the U.S Open it can only be watched for pay online which we wont do as our monthly bills are already too high.
ReplyDeleteStill we have been enjoying a couple of the warm up tournaments on Eurosport tv. They're playing in Brisbane this week.
So now we only have The French Open and Wimbledon free to watch. It's all a bit sad for the game of Tennis.
Dee, that is crap. While I have never applied myself to doing such a thing, I think it may be time and not too hard for you to do something quite illegal with a proxy server. My morals tells me you should be able see all Grand Slam events, as you have for years.
DeleteWell, the young always age, unless they die of course. The good looking and the not so much and the young are always full of themselves, even the young cats think they are immortal and the center of the universe.
ReplyDeleteStrayer, some do age better than others though. I am not one of them. Yo made me smile with the cat comment.
DeleteBet Rafa would love that head of hair now.
ReplyDeleteMarie, I am sure he would, but it doesn't look like he has too much of a problem yet.
DeleteRafa is now 32 years of age. I've always loved Rafa...not only for his brilliance on the tennis court, but for his humble, wonderful manner/character.
ReplyDeleteAs I've mentioned often previously...I love watching the tennis...and the month of January that is what I do...watching all the lead-up tournaments to the Aus Open.
There are some wonderful young players coming up through the ranks, both young women and young men.
Lee, it is easy to misjudge people in the pubic eye, but I think you are right. He is probably a very nice person and always seems like he would be fun too. Good to hear there are some good players coming through. We need them.
