Show us y'r tits

We bought a new low energy light bulb for our tortoise lamp. Little Jo came with us and we then went to Acland Street in St Kilda. As we stepped off the tram, I asked Little Jo if we should go left down Acland Street to a cafe or right to McDonalds. She said left, to a cafe and we had a very nice brunch at 95.

We shopped for ingredients for her to cook us all chicken souvlakis for dinner. She did well with the cooking, but it took me 40 minutes to clean up the table and kitchen after she and her Mothers left.

I preface this with saying, I don't want to see old men and women out in public with their saggy tits exposed, least of all my own. But, we did not notice quite a number of hot young men walking along Acland Street shirtless. Ok, I lie. We may have noticed them. I feel sorry for straight men who can't see young women with pert breasts walk along the street topless.

How has it come to be the male chest can be exposed, nipples and all but not women's chests, also with nipples and generally, but not always larger breasts than men.

Is it a result of some history? Is it because men see women's breasts as a sexual thing, and so they must be covered and contained. I see male chests very sexually and how lucky am I that some choose to show them.

Is it to do with feeding babies, that they become off limits for public viewing? It was a number of years ago that I first wondered about why it is a bit naughty to see women's chests, but not men's. I've never really worked it out.

And of course if a sheila exposes her tits in public, blokes go wild with cheering.

Humans are the most odd animal on Earth.

  1. Blokes may very well go wild with cheering but the woman faces a fine for indecent exposure. even discreetly covered breast feeding in public is still frowned upon. it's an unfair world we live in. Having said that, the laws can change as much as they like, but I won't be walking around without clothes above the waist. I prefer my girls properly confined, not jouncing around slapping me in the chin and on the ribs.

    1. Exactly River. Why do they have to be hidden? Good to hear your big bazooms won't be a threat to the public when you are out and about, and who wants to see old man bodies either.

  2. I can't add to the boobs discussion because, after a certain breast feeding age, boobs are purely fat :(

Acland Street in St Kilda is still fun. But your niece is correct... McDonalds should be avoided at all costs. The real coffee shops and cake shops are luscious.

    1. Hels, I am talking about young men and women. We, and her mothers were quite pleased we et in an Acland Street cafe, and it was Little Jo's choice.

  3. I was six years old and on a hot summer day my two playmates (boys) took off their shirts. I asked their mother if I also could take mine off? "Don't be silly, Miss! You're a girl and little girls must always wear their shirts!"
Programmed in at an early age!
Now I am sixty and really, no one would want to see them, even me, and in fact, I hate bras so I often just wear a a baggy t-shirt or a women's camisole under my clothes.
All in order to hide these puppies!

    1. Maribeth, you are so right. You had something that had to be hidden. I think as you get older, you are entitled to be comfortable. At times you have to dress up, which I guess means putting a bra on.

  4. I don't know the answer to your question but I wonder the same thing.

    1. Strayer, no doubt it is about men and their wants and perceptions.

  5. Add me to the list of those who know not. I won't be exposing mine to the world either as a public service. However I was made very, very angry some years ago when I read a doctor saying that women's breasts should be removed after their child-bearing years were over because they were just 'redundant pads of useless fat'. He presented it as a positive - because it would reduce the women's chance of getting breast cancer.

    1. on a similar note, I wish mine had shrunk back to nothing after my babies were weaned. Think of the savings! No more bras that cost half your bank balance. (I wouldn't have them surgically removed though)

    2. EC, I note it was a male doctor. I think even I have more understanding of women than he appears to.

River, the price of women's underwear in general is absurd.

  6. Oh! Dear! Seeing men, young, old, or in the middle, walking around out in the public domain - in the city or town streets/shops etc., topless, doesn't turn me on. Similar would apply if I saw women, young, old, or in the middle...etc., etc.

Keep your shirts on guys and dolls...and don't get your knickers in a knot!

    1. Lee, well I just said that for approval by my couple of straight male readers. I still think it is weird that men can expose and women can't.

  7. When I was feeding my own children I was told off for feeding in the comfort of my lounge. Double standards are all over the place and sadly feeding your own child can still cause problems.

    1. Suzan, it is the fault of men that they don't know where to look in such situations, and I confess I have felt like that myself. For sure double standards. I hope your experience was many years ago.

  8. Ah, but we can see young women's pert breasts... it just takes X Ray eyes, and a bit of imagination.

  9. It wouldn't matter what the boobs looked like, men would drool and make the footpaths slippery.

I had sunburnt boobs as a teenager and can still feel the pain.

Some body parts are meant to be covered.

    1. Jah Teh, so what were you doing with your boobs out for the sun to burn them? I always knew you had a past. Sunscreen is the answer and there would be long line of men willing to apply it.

    1. Lady J, I remember hearing the same from a Sydney radio broadcaster, who's name I have forgotten. She went to a proper bra shop and was measured up and she said it is worth the money she spent to have a comfortable and properly fitted bra.

  11. You are right what is the difference when it is hot like it is lately it would be great if we all walked around with no clothes on but all those mozzie bites and aerogard makes me itchy so maybe not so good.

    1. Merle, you don't have to do it at home. You can do it in the street, like the young men I am talking about, well, a few decades ago for you.

  12. Because some straight men are gross is why. I would happily go topless, alas not in this country. I have in Europe at the beach. It's complex,so many issues that just shouldn't exist.

    1. Fen, so much stems from Victorian prudery. While not apologising for the men of Australia, it was how they were raised and I think things are changing, just perhaps not with some demographics.
