Busy busy, so a quickie

With our new Bosch dishwasher came $100 worth of free Finish dishwashing products, tablets, a couple of smell nice things to hang inside and some interior cleaning and descaling tablets. The salesman told us of the bonus but there was not mention on any documentation. I went online and applied (it took a few minutes to do as there was much detail to fill in online). The large box was delivered in a timely manner.

But then another box arrived. I now assume it was an automatic process once the dishwasher was bought and by me applying, we received the bonus a second time. A clerical error by someone, but I will return the second box. Ho bloody ho. As if. My honesty only goes so far and does not extend to the multinational companies such as  Bosch and Reckitt Coleman.

It is a plausible theory that Household Management threw out our good scissors with the flower arranging cuttings, so with a $20 voucher for department store Myer for being such good customers, we bought a new pair. The scissors can certainly do many things aside from cutting. It is a seriously sharp pair and would cut through bones, chicken bones at least. I ripped them off the cardboard packaging and was left with the two bits of black plastic on the handle where they were attached to the cardboard. How do I get those bits off? I need scissors, but........

  1. Definitely a challenge. I have used secateurs before now.

    1. EC, I didn't think of that. We got them off with a knife.

  2. I have 4 pair of kitchen sheers. I use two for food, and the other two for kitchen related activities. How do you like the new dishwasher?
I use Finish here and it seems to do well. Cascade it another big brand, but it has a hefty price tag so I opt for the Finish! I'm a frugal Lass!

    1. Maribeth, we are very pleased with the dishwasher, and that is where the scissors go after being used. We do have another pair, but they were cheap and are useless. I don't believe we get Cascade here, unless it is under another name. I think Finish is the most expensive here.

  3. Sharp paring knife, dear Andrew. Or a stanley knife. Or any other cutting implement.

    1. River, which is what we ended up doing, a knife, but it was tricky as they were quite tight.

  4. Modern scissors, with those plastic ends, are usually sh*t.

    1. Cro, not in this case, but they were expensive. We've had cheap plastic handled scissors and your description of them is quite apt.

  5. Lucky you for getting a second batch of dishwasher goodies :)
I find it very annoying when packaging is difficult to remove and you need some other tool to cut it loose!!

    1. Sami, like hard blister packs that you can only open with scissors and risk cutting yourself on the hard edge plastic. They are dreadful.

    2. Hard blister packs with cardboard backing? Get a fingernail or knife edge under a corner of the blister and peel away the cardboard backing. The remaining thin layer of cardboard attached to the blister can be easily cut into and removed.

    1. Grace, plastic is great in so many ways, but not for this kind of tie, or hard plastic around many new products.

    2. I couldn't remember the word of the plastic hard packaging, blister packs. More like slice a deep flesh wound into your thumb.

  9. Get them off with wire cutters. You scored with the double bonus. I wouldn't send back the second box either! As for packaging, sometimes you need industrial tools to remove simple small items from heavy sealed packaging. It's getting ridiculous.

    1. Strayer, I can see the day when I will have to find a strong young man in our building to open such things for me.
