A nice look

BAD is in Peru.

This post has hung around for a few months. Publish as is.

Friko got me thinking when she mentioned bat wing arms on women of a certain age and how to exercise to get rid of them. Simply put, I have a better solution, and I have mentioned it before. You cover them up if you see it as a problem. Cover your body in light diaphanous clothing in hot weather.

Just to prove I am not sexist, is there anything more horrible than an old man wearing hitched up shorts over his bulging gut with skinny and spindly legs? Some older men can get away with shorts, but many not so.

  1. There are definitely body parts that need to be covered.

    1. Marie, as it is the duty of young people to expose their bodies, it is the duty of older to cover up.

  2. Bat wing or Bingo Wings. Yes ... cover up!
I remember seeing a Oprah show where she said she has this problem with her arms and had looked into surgery but decided against it as its the most painful thing to have and it heals slow. Now , that woman could have anything and with the best of the best of surgeons and hospitals ... but not for her!

    1. Lady J, add to that 'tuck shop' arms. It's an interesting Oprah tale.

  3. Sadly I think I need a burkah to cover the offending parts. At least.
I am not prepared to go that far, so people will have to exercise the option of looking the other way.

    1. EC, I am sure you exaggerate.

  4. Men of any age seen wearing hitched up high shorts or trousers should not be seen outside of the home...or even inside the home for that matter!

And there certainly isn't anything attractive about flabby upper arms. There are many attractive outfits available to cover them when out and about, rather than not, and scaring the public and little children - and animals. :)

    1. Lee, I agree on both counts. Men can look absolutely ridiculous at times. Don't they ever look in a mirror? Probably not.

    1. Grace, one day when you get old, it might happen to you. Something to look forward to.

  6. BAD reminds me of the old saying 'If it's wednesday, it must be Vienna'.

That bloke reminds me of someone I know. I wear shorts for about half the year, but not of the 'mini skirt' variety.

    1. Cro, she won't remember much of it, but there will be some special places she really liked, as there are for us for our holidays. Shorts are actually ok, if properly worn and appropriate to age.

  7. My arms are not that bad yet. Always comparing. I have this cowlick problem however, double crown cowlick, that can make me look like I have a bald spot. Someone took a photo of me from the rear a couple weeks ago, and it showed so badly. I'm afraid I've obsessed over it and wonder how to best head my cowlick crown problem.

    1. Strayer, oh yes, I've seen that problem. Most of the time you could wear a baseball cap. You don't? For more formal times, backcomb to the centre with a good spray of Richard Hudnut to hold it in place.

    2. Note to self. Call my thinning scalp a double crown cowlick problem.

  8. I have to agree Andrew, cover up is the best option.
Even young people sometimes wear outfits that just don't suit their bodies, just because they are fashionable!

    1. Sami, so true about young people. I know I cannot wear a fitted shirt, yet I see many young men who cannot wear a tight fitted shirt, but they do. As for jean wearing women who ask does my bum look big in this? Yes, it does should be the answer from their partner.

  9. You just put me off my lunch!
I agree, I never go sleeveless anymore. My gawd, I saw a guy in a speedo at a city pool the other day, needed some eye bleach.

    1. Sorry about your lunch Jackie. Yes, men reach a certain age and it's time to go to board shorts.

  10. The wearing of age appropriate clothing is a problem for many. I'm 66 and don't feel at all comfortable in the 'granny style' get up that older women are supposed to wear, according to fashion magazines and advertising catalogues. (and you ha ha) Pastels and twinsets? Yikes! I'll be back in my denim shorts as soon as the weather allows, they're not mini-short, coming almost to my knees, okay a bit higher than that and I don't care what people might think or say. I've earned the right to be comfortable. As for older men and hitched up pants, just wear them with the shirts UNtucked.
Bat wing arms? Where are my hand weights? I know they're around here somewhere.....

    1. River, I would never expect anyone to listen to me. I don't feel comfortable in anything else but jeans and I always wear my shirts untucked.
