Funny Friday

BAD is in Southampton.

Not side splitting but very clever work by the wonderful Tracey Ullman. It is not the first time I have heard of Scottish tennis star Andy Murray's identity problems. Nicola Sturgeon is Scotland's Chief Minister and leader of the Scottish National Party.

BBC lawyers are watching me. Here we go again.

  1. Oh this is hilarious! Being a McEwan now for the last 30 years, I'm afraid I've become a Scotswoman simply by osmosis! Have always love Tracy Ullman. She makes me both laugh and smile!

  5. Tracy Ullman is funny. I loved the one about Camilla shopping, wanting sexy underwear in tweed.

  6. I've never been a fan of Andy Murray. He's always come across, to me, as being a big sook! He looks like his mother in drag! lol

    1. Lee, I can't ever remember seeing her. One British funny woman used to refer to her as Old Ma Murray. Murray has always seemed a bit petulant and serious to me.

    2. His mother is always in the stands...in the player's box watching him play, Andrew.

    3. I Googled her Lee. She appears to be a 'woman of strong character'. Is he a Mummy's boy? I see they went to a gala formal event together.

  7. When he was first a big name, he said he hated the English; he lost his few English fans!

  8. Andrew, Had to laugh at Lee's comment 'He looks like his Mother in drag.' Cruel but very funny.

Scottish Leader Nicola Sturgeon's hair looks very synthetic. I do believe it is a wig, and very much like the one Tracy Ullman is wearing.
Not too far from where I live there is a Jewish area and mostly all the young Orthodox Jewish wives wear synthetic wigs. In other words they all shave their hair off. Apparently it's some religious tradition. But for me it's one of life's great mysteries.
But I don't think Nicola Sturgeon is Jewish.

    2. Dee, I haven't seen a lot of the Chief Minister. Shave off hair, and wear a wig? Odd.

      Damn BBC being precious again.

  10. At least it stayed long enough for me to see it. That's a scary thought, having the whole world with a Scottish climate. I'm reminded of a Scottish girl, Fiona, who came to our high school, black hair, whiter than white skin and thin. How she survived her first summer I'll never know. Similarly an English boy the year before, so small, so pale, so thin. He was the same age as the boys in our class but easily half their size. They ribbed him unmercifully, even swinging him upside down by his ankles, but he took it all in stride and laughed with them and all were good friends by the end of term. Summer must have been a shock to him also. While I don't like our heat very much, I wouldn't like to live with the near constant rain of Scotland or England either.

    1. River, while I would love to live in England, like you, I could not live with the wet, or as at the moment, the heat without air con. Kids can be cruel but in a kind of fun way. Then there are the really nasty kids. But now, cyber bullying is whole different kettle of fish and perhaps beyond our understanding.
