Do not click the link

Lol, a posh private school sent a hyperlinked email to its students that contained a wrong character in a web address and clicking the link would have sent them to them to a porn site.

Mistyping a link is an understandable mistake we may have all made at times, but they are easy to check before sending. I don't know what the site was but as an example, Red Tube is very different to Youtube Red.

But here it gets really lol, because the school then sent out an email to inform children to not click on the link. Can you remember back to your youth? It is red rag to a bull to be told not to do something like that. Remember at the Fairy Park we visited where there was sign that said 'Do not press this button', and of course everyone did and received a bit of a water spray. I am quite certain the school children immediately rushed to their inboxes to see where the link took them. I certainly would have.

  1. Of course they clicked on the link. If they didn't there is something very different (and I could probably say not right) about them. I suspect the school knew that but sent the email to cover their butts in case something sued for emotional distress.

    1. Yes, it would be odd to not click the link, and even those who didn't would do so now.

  3. I wouldn't have. Throughout my childhood, before Mum took off, my older, retarded sister was raised rather strictly to always do exactly what mum or dad said, because she simply didn't understand the consequences that could happen if things went wrong for any reason and of course I picked up on that and always did just what I was told, without questioning any of it.

    1. River, I understand, but can you imagine yourself as a young River living now in 2017? I hate to use the phrase, but for your age!, you are very conversant with the internet. You had a curiosity to learn. I expect River may well have clicked, regardless of parental authority.

  4. I would have clicked for sure. And I highly doubt what was linked was a typo. More like someone was lax with their double checking. Hilarious!!!

  5. Oh absolutely! Crikey it would have to be porn site, I wonder what the person who sent the email out was looking at just before they pressed SEND! 😀😀

  7. When stuff like this happens, it always makes me giggle. When I was working about 22 years ago, a person clicked on a link, and before you knew it all sorts of little cartoon pink penises filled up her screen. Whatever she did, it just caused it to start up again and go across that screen.(lol) It took several hours to fix that glitch. All these years later we still laugh about it, but it was super embarrassing at the time. Happy Friday! Hugs...RO

    1. That is funny, Ro. I remember back when I had little knowledge of computers and while that did not happen, some odd things did.
