River in Adelaide has mentioned Blackeby's Sweet Shop in the past, but I did not quite know how interesting the shop might be. It is located in James Place, just off Grenfell Street with some branches elsewhere. At this time of the year animated Christmas windows are appearing in many stores, but this one launched in October 2011 is a permanent display. Pretty good, hey.
Wow. What an amazing display. I was sorry to leave New York before seeing the Christmas windows. Lesley Gore! Thanks for the great memories of this song.
ReplyDeleteMitchell, I believe NY's window displays are very special, but can you get near them to see them? The Gore song must have been very popular when it was a hit. It is certainly bouncy.
DeleteAndrew: I haven't seen the window displays for years. But they rope them off and you can stand in line to work your way through. It's worth it. And, yes, that Lesley Gore song was a huge hit.
DeleteYes Mitchell, as they do at a certain department store here. Photos will appear at some point as we were there today.
DeleteAndrw, I like it very much I have never seen that display before..
ReplyDeleteGood Gosia. I thought it was interesting enough.
DeleteBRILLIANT. I would stop off and watch it every time I went past.
ReplyDeleteThank you - and River.
EC, I had a later thought. I hope it is still there. The video was made three years ago.
DeleteThank you!! I don't remember how many times I've stood and watched that window, I just love it.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is still there and very popular.
The shop has now included Ben and Jerry's ice cream in its products. I tried some and it is okay, but very expensive.
River, I reckon I would spend a good bit of time watching. I've not had Ben and Jerry's ice cream but I do like the company's ethics.
DeleteThat's neat. It looks like something out of Willy Wonka
ReplyDeleteDiane, while I haven't seen the movie, I know what you mean.
DeleteLove the music and song and setting.. some pretty creepy puppets though :)
ReplyDeleteGrace, good, scare the kids away.
