Family similarities

You know how I said a few days ago about our family all crushing cans, passed down from Father?

When I was seven years old, I fell off the monkey bars at school and broke my wrist.

Via the family news stream, aka Face Book, we have just received word that Little Jo has broken her arm in two places, on the day that is Sister's birthday. Now how could she have done that? At seven years old?

Yes, like her uncle did oh so long ago, she fell off the monkey bars.

  3. Andrew, Little Jo is young so shortly she will be in a good shape. But definitely is not a good situation. I hope so it is not right arm.

    1. Gosia, about four weeks in plaster. They heal quickly at that age. It is her left arm fortunately.

  4. Ouch. My partner broke his arm as a seven year walking backwards along a wall. When asked why he was walking backwards the doctor was told 'going forwards all the time is boring'.
I hope little Jo heals quickly.

  5. Ouch! Here's to fast mending and more care on the monkey bars. Which are only dangerous if you land wrongly when you fall off.

    1. Dina, just spoke to her on the phone and she sounded a bit miserable, but she will heal quickly. It is very useful that one of her mothers is a bone doctor.

  7. Our eldest boy was a 'victim' of the monkey bars or jungle gym as his school called them. He kept his autographed cast for years - then put the dirty manly looking thing in the bin. Not sure what the reaction would be if it was ever dug up at the tip! Any idea how long Plaster of Paris circa 1970 would last ??
Here's hoping Little Jo gets lots of fun things written on her cast. Did she get a pink one?

    2. Cathy, where is my 60's plaster? Also in the tip. Bone Doctor will replace Little Jo's plaster with fibre glass tomorrow., somewhat more waterproof. I really don't know about such things.

  8. My sister broke her arm on the monkey bars too, on her first day of school! I fell off more than once, thankfully never broke anything.

    1. Fen, these monkey bars seem terribly dangerous. Seriously, perhaps they ought not be around.
