Day whatever

Another gorgeous village, another church, another palace, another lock. We are soon to leave the Main (Mein) River and enter the Rhine River. When Victor took a similar cruise a couple of years ago, I have a vague recollection of him mentioning thrusters, that is bow and stern thrusters. I kind of knew what they were, but I have very clear knowledge about them now.

BR asked tonight at dinner about how much longer the cruise runs. We calculated it down to three nights of dinner.

I brushed up on my Euro geography before we left home. I should have brushed up on my Nut Bush steps instead.

Three dinners from leaving our boat, grey haired women have maintained their dignity. Those who cover their grey hair have not. Grey roots to the left of me and grey roots to the right, and then what about the women!.

  2. Echoing John. And yet again grateful that my hair is wash n wear. No colour here. Well salt and pepper, with no added colour.

    1. We are EC. The time has flown past. This arvo we cruise through the Rhine Gorge, lots of castles to look at and fortunately not visit.

Solid black is the worst for showing roots. It must be quite time consuming to be always dying hair.

  3. Are they still doing the nut bush? I thought that dance died years ago. Perhaps I should re-learn it.
Grey hair rocks! No re-touching, no dried out split ends from constant colouring, no skunk stripe along a centre parting....

    1. River, and the chicken dance, bustop, that Billy Ray Cyrus dance, and more.

Skunk stripe, haha. A perfect descriptive phrase.

  4. Wow, between all those thrusters and your nut bush, that sure sounds like an "interesting" cruise!

  5. I have noticed a couple of albino hairs in my beard. Have no idea what's causing them :)

  7. Grey roots and nutbush always go together in a conversation. Can I take it you are dancing? Hope so!

    1. Not dancing FC. Maybe if I remembered the steps....and for once I was innocent of intending any double meaning.

Agree re grey hair and have seen men here dye their beards FFS - the white shows through in hours!

    1. Great to hear from you Kath. Miss you! Loved Vienna. I think there is stuff you can buy to brush through your beard, but if it is as you say, maybe not a good idea.

  11. My two lady companions on our cruise suffered the hair problem whilst I remained smugly comfortable with my untouched locks.

My man problem was running out of my favourite deodorant just as we arrived at Amsterdam. Those cans seem to contain less and less spray (or fewer squirts) than ever but I was saved when I found it on sale nearby to our tie up pint in the city of canals.

    1. Main not 'man' problem. Freudian slip?

    2. Oh...and 'point' not 'pint'. (I blame MacBook predictive text.)

    1. Wombat, I think our next holiday will be to Phillip Island. Nut Bush not required. Actually I could do it if I had a moment or two on my own to practice.

  14. Never heard of the Nut bush dance, we must have been with a different company when we did that cruise. I didn't notice grey roots or nut bushes just fabulous scenery, walks and meals.
