R mentioned a sportsman who has six children. He is quite hot. Clearly R thinks as I do, he is very fertile. It makes him seem even hotter.
An English study found that couples are having less sex with each other than they did a decade ago, something like down from 6 times a month to 5 times a month. Preoccupation with electronic devices is being blamed. Hey, hey babe. It is Saturday night. How about leaving Face Book for an hour?
Now how many Saturday nights are there in a month? I must confess that in the days when I used to have sex with my partner, it was quite often on a Saturday night. It became a ritual, an enjoyable ritual, and something to look forward to. Ah, just remembered the occasional Sunday matinee.
Excuse me if I show my ignorance, but aren't women only fertile for about three days per month?
I think back to older days when fertility periods were not well enough known about to know the right the time to conceive a child.
Over twenty years my great grandmother gave birth to 13 children. Wouldn't it kind of be a year out for conception and birth for each child? Gosh, they must have done done the biz a lot back then.
Mother once said to me, rephrased, I suppose my parents must have done the biz once because I was born. Mother is as horrified about her parents doing the biz as I am about she and Father doing the biz.
Just thinking out loud, but I think people used to do the biz a lot more often than they do now. Radio, tv and now devices have a lot to answer for and in days of old blokes did not have a tablet in their hand where they could self satisfy so easily. They might have seen a 'feelthy' arousing post card, at best.
I can't speak for married life having no personal knowledge other than the distant recollection of my parent's marriage when they were younger but a couple of observations.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger, and by that I mean from my early teens until my 40s, the idea of sex 5 times a month would be horrific. I indulged far more regularly than that!
When I was in my teens and my parents were in their forties my parents used to close their bedroom door every Sunday morning and after a short period each of them in turn rushed into the bathroom next door. As both worked long hours during the week those Sunday mornings was the only wink wink nudge nudge time in which they were engaged as far as I was aware.
Nowadays self masturbation is a far more acceptable and openly discussed activity that is seen as being healthy and normal; rather than evil and unspeakable. I suppose some make do with that rather than the effort of pleasing a partner.
Victor, do you feel relieved that you are not as driven as when you were young? I certainly am.
DeleteHehe at you parents. 'Victor, go out and play'.
Oh yes, much more relaxed nowadays.
DeleteThe Biz ?
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what you mean....my children were found in the cabbage patch, I'm sure, cos I can't recall what The Biz is these days!
I'm Re-Virginated :P
Jayne, you could always initiate something and it is Saturday night tonight.
DeleteMy great grandmother had 14 full term pregnancies (10 of whom reached adulthood); my grandmother had six healthy children; my parents had three and I had two.
ReplyDeleteIs it because couples are rooting less? No way of knowing, but now women are not prepared to have random, unwanted pregnancies every second year from the time they are 18 to 45. Every child should be a much loved, wanted child, I say!
Hels, the odds of children surviving to adulthood were not great, were they. We've come a long way in that area. The state of almost permanent pregnancy must have taken a terrible toll on women's bodies.

DeleteAll connections, including the Biz seem to take place in the cyber world more frequently now. Some good in it, some sadness.
ReplyDeleteEC, fortunately some things do still happen naturally and personally, no matter how people meet.
DeleteHere's a word I mean to look up, Tinder.
I've had enough biz to last me the rest of my life, I'm happy to go without now.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about fertile days and how many etc, but I do know it is possible to fall pregnant within a month of giving birth, I have two friends, one has two children ten months apart, one born in February and one born in December, the other has three children born ten months apart, born in January, November and September.
One month River? How hideous. From being gross to morning sickness in a few weeks.
Deleteyes River me too. my 2nd was born 51 weeks after the 1st so they are the same age for a week every year.
DeleteIt must have been the 5-times-a-WEEK.
And I was not 'gross' as the last time I got to the labour ward I weighed 2-stone less than I do right now. OK I'm gross now, but not back then.
Ann, Ann, Ann, you are in fine shape. Readers, let me you tell you Ann is in fine shape (but I can't resist the irresistible) .........for her age.
DeleteFive times a week? Rubye did so much better with five times a day.
Nowadays I just think of it as the dirty deed I no longer have to do. However, I do recall that it was not so much as how many times a week but more like how many times a day. Let bygones be bygones I say. :)
ReplyDeleteTouché Rubye, you trumped everyone.
DeleteWomen are fertile for about 7 days in the month, 3 of those being peak days. Ovulation generally occurs about ten to twelve days after the start of your last period.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was getting some. I miss it. Onanism will have to suffice.
Fen, I thought only men can commit onanism. Guess I still have things to learn about sex. It will be all theory now.
DeleteThe fertility statistics must surely be skewed by changes to the availability of contraception???
ReplyDeleteRed, I think my assumption was no contraception. I say this advisedly because many women don't have the option even now, but is not contraception in control of women one of the best things?
DeletePS I think I have learnt a new push button topic to write about.
Wow. My mother would never admit her parents "did the biz"... and my grandmother had 7 children with an additional 6 miscarriages. They were very "bizzy."
ReplyDeleteMitchell, yes it must have been lights out for them once it was dark.
DeleteFour words Andrew...long live the biz :)
ReplyDeleteWell Grace, you being so youthful and all....
DeleteI heard a saying once, "If you put a penny?? (5cent coin) in a bucket for every time you do the biz in the first year of marriage (first year with a partner) and then take out the coin for every time you do the biz after that you will never empty the bucket. I can relate to that.
ReplyDeleteDiane, maybe a year is a little short, but you would be guaranteed to not empty the bucket if you put in for the first five years. A point well made.
