The 33 year old Revolta is going to god. Although it still works, both of us are finding it so heavy to haul around and hard on our backs.
It has been replaced by this. Well it will be once I assemble it.
There you go. It runs from a rechargeable battery and is very light and a breeze to use and to clean. It's a Dyson Animal. There seems to be not a thing that has not been thought about in its design. It just works.
We bought a new microwave when we first moved here some 11 years ago. It did not take long for the display to fail to the point where it could barely be read. The interior had started to corrode and the last straw was the light stopped working. I will add it was extremely cheap. So this is our new Whirlpool. Of course it is loaded with features, most of which will never be used. It is reasonably quiet, which is good.
Last Thursday was a Mother Day. I had to get something for Mother at the local Ritchies Supermarket and I was asked if I wanted a free coffee tin. It is quite nice.
Anything that requires self assembly remains on the store's shelf as far as this DIY free man is concerned.
ReplyDeleteVictor, it was quite simple. I just all clicked together. A little work was required to attach it to the wall.
DeleteRechargeable battery? Does that mean it has to be plugged in and turned on the whole time it is hanging on the wall doing nothing? I remember my little hand held vac, if it wasn't left on the charger it went flat quite quickly so was pretty useless. I'll stick with my Hoover Hero.
ReplyDeleteRiver, this is the only thing we weren't sure about. It does shut the charger off after it is charged up, but I don't know what the battery life might be. I expect a new battery might cost about one quarter of the price of the whole thing.
DeleteWell at least it shuts off the charger.
DeleteI have a Dyson, I like it and so far it hasn't blown up like the last one, well it didn't blow up but there were sparks.
ReplyDeleteMerle
Good Merle. R has used one before and that is why we chose that one.
DeleteThe best vacuum cleaners are those dragged around by other people, but yes, Dyson always gets rave reviews. But I'm with River, at some point rechargeable doohickeys seem to get precious about holding a charge.
ReplyDeleteIs the microwave one of those microwave slash convection thingys?
FC, yes, much better if someone else does, but not so good if it is your near and dear and it makes his back ache. Time will tell over the recharging matter.
DeleteNo, not convection but it has some kind of crisping system. I doubt we will ever use it.
Tablets are great, but nothing beats a laptop or computer for writing stuff:)
ReplyDeleteToo right Thomas, which is why I spend a lot of sitting here at the desk in a chair, and not with the laptop, the notebook or the new tablet.
DeleteI'm a bit jealous over that vacuum cleaner...
ReplyDeleteI had a chargeable light vacuum thingy for a few years, which I bought from an ad on TV, and I LOVED it. I even bought a replacement when it died in less than two years. But I couldn't bring myself to do that a third time (though I was tempted). Being a Dyson, I'm sure yours will last much longer.
Jackie, we are on our third little rechargeable and we wasted money buying the last one. You don't need a little hand held one and a big one if you have this easy to used one.
Deleteooh I love my tablet too. Though I do wish it had a keyboard, I should get around to buying one for it. I think I am due a new cover for my phone, I'm bored of the current one!!
ReplyDeleteFen, R wanted to buy a keyboard, mainly for me. I won't use the tablet much unless on holidays, and I expect I will still have the note book, which does have a keyboard. R had a rubber surround for his phone. He has ditched it and bought a nice leather case for it.
DeleteOh, I have wanted a Dyson for years! Instead, we buy cheap crap vacuums that make us work ten times as hard. One of these days.
ReplyDeleteMitchell, I don't say it lightly, but I can really recommend it, battery life opinion pending. Sometimes you have to spoil yourself. Oh, you live in Spain. You are already.
DeleteThat coffee tin reminds me of one that my grandmother used to have!
ReplyDeleteReally Keith? Maybe there is some history to the design. Interesting.
DeleteI wonder if winning the lottery is all it is cracked up to be. Think of the army of accountants and lawyers you would need to engage; think of how your relationships with friends and family members might change.
ReplyDeleteMy aunt won 100 pounds in 1959 which was fairly impressive. She rushed out and bought a tv!
Hels, I expect it very much depends on the individual. Firstly I would not tell family and friends and try not to conspicuously consume.
Delete£100 was a lot of money but also, tvs were very expensive.
Dyson is the only way to go Andrew, I congratulate you on your purchase and predict many years of happy cohabitation :)
ReplyDeleteAh Grace, I remember now it was you who has one. Very happy with it.
