As I stepped out of my shower this morning I saw a couple of balloons rise in the feint dawn light from nearby Fawkner Park. This isn't unusual but what was unusual was the number of them, eight in total. This is the last one to go up. It was too dark to take a photo so this one over Melbourne is from the company Picture This Ballooning.
Yes, they are wonderful to watch in the morning. This is the first time I have seen a square one, though
ReplyDeleteA Balloon House! I love it! I want to go up in this one.
ReplyDeleteMe too Christine. I am pretty jaded with seeing balloons, but it was impressive.
ReplyDeleteRiver, do you know balloons don't softly touch down on earth, but actually crash land? Second thoughts?
That is so sweet!
ReplyDeleteWe had our fair share of hot air balloons going over us in Flemington, but never ones that were such gorgeous designs. Milly would start barking when the gas burners did their loud 'Whooosh!' thing.
Kath, I could only see the silhouette, but I could see it was interesting balloon. Only once here have I heard the whoosh.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very creative balloon shape - a form of 3D skywriting?
ReplyDeleteAs for crashing to land, that would be lower than fear of heights on my list of reasons not to go up in a balloon, but it makes the list nonetheless.
I'm with River - I want to ride this balloon! What fun it would be! V.
ReplyDeleteOh this is so gorgeous. I wish they would do something like that here :-)
ReplyDeleteFruitCake, if I look directly down from our balcony, I get that odd height feeling. I never had that in the balloon.
ReplyDeleteV, I suspect once you are in the air, all you see of it the underside with a hole in it for the hot air.
Hi Raajii. We are fortunate that our airport is a long way out, so there is no problems with planes. A close airport stops balloon flights in many cities.
When i worked the night shift and finished around 6am i used to see many hot air balloons, i never once seen the house one. By the way you'd never get me up in one of those things ever :-).
ReplyDeleteWindsmoke, given what I just heard on the news from NZ, I won't be going up again.
ReplyDeleteAndrew, that's what Michelin Man style padding is for....
ReplyDeleteA sort of Mary Poppins on steroids......
ReplyDeleteRiver, even that padding wouldn't have save those unfortunates in NZ.
ReplyDeleteIf you like Victor. It was in Sydney but the close airport is an issue I think.
it looks like a flying money box!
ReplyDeleteIt does Fen. I guess bookings will be down for a while.
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome and would like to take a ride once at this balloons essendon.
ReplyDeleteJohn, the interesting balloons such as that one have disappeared. If this is a spam comment, it didn't work as I have googled Balloons Essendon and nothing comes up.
