Monday Mural

Linking up with Sami and others (Sami, I was going to make the proper link but it seems the list is closed according to what is written at the bottom of your last post).

This is nothing special and the artist, PWF-ATC, also seems to be a graffitist and tagger, which is unfortunate. Nevertheless, there are some cute elements within the work. I have a pretty good mural for the next time I post one. I expect the home owners paid for this work on the side of their house.

Toadstool and a snail.

A grasshopper or similar.

And my favourite insect, ladybirds, hopefully eating thrip/aphids that are about to attack your roses. Did you know you can buy ladybirds online and they will be sent to you in containers to spread around your roses? In our years at The Highrise, we have had three balcony visits by ladybirds. Nothing for them here, so they don't hang around too long, but so nice to see them.

  1. Love the ladybirds. We don't see nearly enough of them here. They like the aphids, and the birds like them.

  2. If I had that house I would like the side plain but .... they do love to tag so I think they did a clever thing.... I hope they picked the theme too if they paid for it.
Love ladybirds too.... you get them flying up at your apartment so high!!! Who knew! I still buy my grand kids those little chocolate ladybirds with cardboard legs ... I loved them as a child and these days kids love them too... somethings never get "old " do they ! LOL

    1. Lady J, yes, many do commission such works, as I think this one would have been. In North Carlton, it would be very vulnerable.

There is not much that does not climb the heights. No mice or cockroaches so far though, and only one ant invasion.

  3. Very nice mural. I've been thinking about buying ladybirds, the roses here are filled with aphids and thrips. I'll have to find out the cost before deciding.
I had a native bee buzzing around the plastic lavender on my front porch recently. He must have been so disappointed.

    1. River, from memory, just the garden hose wasn't too bad at getting rid of thrip and a watered down eucalyptus spray was good too.

Lola doesn't have the energy to swipe at a bee?

  5. I find this one a bit confused and pretentious. It needs to be simplified and focused.... too busy!

    1. Diane, a friend with a similar kind of house in a very different area paid for a mural on his house on a railway line to protect it from tagging.

  7. The mural link at the bottom of post opened at midnight (Sunday to Monday) Andrew and will be open until Wednesday night, you can still enter it.
I like your mural Andrew, maybe the background colour could be a bit lighter so the "bugs" could stand out.
I don't get many ladybird in my garden, and I had no idea you could buy them online :)

    1. Sami, I saw that today and went into it, but it was a bit too complicated for me, err meaning I am not prepared to devote time to it.

    1. Strayer, to be honest I didn't think much of it, but as each person has commented and go back to look at it, it is not bad at all.
