So not a gamer

I've never been a gamer on the net. It just does not interest me, but yet........

Mother had a black and white AWA Deep Image tv (Australia Wireless something. I can't remember ) in the seventies. It was a stylish modern television with a nice legs and and a very handsome timber veneer.  Mother still had the tv into the eighties and was rather late into colour tv, with her next set being a Rank Arena. My younger siblings had some sort of game thing they could plug into the AWA tv. I think it was called Pong. It was good fun, to hit a ball a bit back and forth from the control sticks. (I don't remember the control sticks, but it can't have been touch screen).

Such a simple game, but we had such fun.

Our Late Friend back in the early noughties asked what I was doing with my old mobile phone. He suggested I should give it to his partner as a gift. No way, I replied. It has Tetris on it and I can't find it on my new phone, so I will keep the old phone to play Tetris. I never did play it again, and eventually I put the phone into a phone recycling bin.

But yeah, things like Super Mario, Sim City,  etc all go above my head. I don't know about them and I am not interested at all to find out about them.

I quite like pinball machines though.

What about you? Do you like online game playing? I hear a deafening silence.

  1. I'm not a player, they're all too fast for me. By the time I work out what move I should make the game is streets ahead and I'm out of it. Do you remember the small hand-held games of the 90s? I learned to play one of those quite well, but it was a very easy level game. We bought them to keep the kids occupied in the back seat while we were moving interstate.

    1. River, yes I kind of do remember those games as you describe back in the years past. Now kiddies have screens on the back of front seats to watch.

  2. My co-ordination is woeful. So no.
Back in the day, I did play pinball (in the pub rather than on-line). And the skinny one's broken collar bone healed with a lump because he took his arm out of the sling to contest a match.

  5. Who can forget Tetris. These days I play Sodoku and Wordscape hoping it will keep the brain cells alive just a bit longer.

    1. Marie, judge by your parents genes, but I don't think you will be in any danger of losing it.

    2. Oh yes, I think researching for blog posts is probably much better for your brain than Sudoku.

  6. I belong to quite a few LGBTQ Facebook groups, and I tend to be the oldest person (I'm 56) in such groups. Despite that, I do get messages from younger guys from time to time, which is flattering. Unfortunately, the first thing they want to know is if I'm a gamer. When I say I'm not, they quickly lose interest. Kids these days.

    1. Kirk, 56, and you do not reply with "Well depends what sort of games you want to play".

  7. I play Words with Friends, but that's it. Back in the day I did have the Super Mario Brother's game and it was in pristine condition. My Computer Guru is a Game Collector, and after he helped me with a rough time computer wise, I gave it to him. The man collects all video computer games and has turned his basement into a playroom museum! Quite amazing. My son in-law if quite jealous!

    1. Maribeth, I remember only the name Super Mario. The early games play room may be appreciated by some, but not for me. Two mention of word games. Perhaps I should look. But I don't have the time.

    1. Whimsy2, but you would have been perhaps only 50 when computer games first appeared. If you can post a comment on a blog, you can play online games. You just choose not to because you aren't interested and nor am I.

  10. I do like Tetras but can't find it free now so I no longer play it. I recall Pong, and it was fun.

    1. Strayer, I could not find the same Tetris or like it for free for my next phone. Is that a business model? Give it to 'em free for one phone?

  12. Not a player but back in the early 80s we bought our Commadore 64 and it had a car chase that I was addicted to for a while. Then for a while Angry Birds. That's about my limit.

    1. Jackie, we almost bought a Commodore 64 in the early 80s. R had just taken a computer course, where he had to punch holes into cards. I'm afraid that skill did not turn out to be very useful.

  13. I have taken up Pokemon Go again recently, it gets me out and walking.
The husband is an avid gamer and plays a few times a week. I watch from a distance. I tried it once and it made me motion sick!!
