Youse get what you pay for

Jetstar: A few years ago, Melbourne to Tokyo, 8 hours late.

Recently Melbourne to Sydney, one hour late.

Sydney to Melbourne, two hours late.

Melbourne to Launceston, one hour late.

Launceston to Melbourne, two hours late.

Jetstar is nothing if not consistent. All flights come with screaming and badly behaving children. While crying babies must be tolerated by grumpy old men, not so badly behaving children.

We won't fly Jetstar again. I feel bad for the quite good staff who have to put up with such poor company management. It is not the fault of your check in staff or flight attendants, or even pilot. The fish rots from the head.

  1. True. Sadly if the rotten head is cut off the body of the fish doesn't survive.

  2. Haven't had the misfortune to fly with them but I always remember how they had a Drag Queen in their original ads but then ditched it quickly and allegedly didn't pay her. Can't recall her name atm, she passed a few years ago.

  4. You are right Andrew - from what I read they have a terrible reputation - terrible reviews - my choice is not to even give them a chance.
I don't intend to gamble with my money to find out if they are correct or not. There's plenty of other airlines to fly with!

  5. It seems at time you get what you paid for..
The other evening because of Jetstar's problems all passengers had to stay overnight here in Launceston where accommodation is in short supply at times..

  6. My wife's flight back from London recently, was an hour late. I hate waiting; FOR ANYTHING.

    1. But you have patiently waited for your wife for many years.

  7. I stay at home, so I'm never late...except sometimes I'm a little late getting out of bed...but not consistently! :)

  8. I've flown with them a couple of times, don't remember them being late but I find their seating is uncomfortable, and even though their prices are cheaper you get nothing for free! So maybe adding up you're better off with another company.

    1. Sami, seating comfort was terrible.

  9. I flew with Jetstar both times I left the state and didn't find any problems either coming or going, but then I haven't flown with anyone else since flying with Qantas way back in 1973, so I really have nothing to compare with.

    1. I assume to Sydney the last time. Can you remember if they were ontime?

  10. The fish rots from the head... I'm going to pinch that expression Andrew, love it 😀 You should fly Quantas, always on time 😉

    1. Grace, except some of the flights we have taken are Qantas code share.

  11. After experiencing multiple cancellations with them I avoid Jetstar wherever there is an option available.

  12. Hey Andrew

I do fly Jetstar as the only other option to my usual destination is twice the price and owned by a very nasty man. Delays are routine. Some times of day are better than others and I take activities. There is always the bar...

Normally I reserve a seat in the back row. The worst child-related infringement is the toddler travelling in the lap of a hapless dad who spends the entire voyage kicking the seat in front whilst snacking on a sugary drink and watching videos of cartoon characters screaming whilst jumping up and down.

I've been on the receiving end of this a couple of times. The last time I said to the shrugging boofhead who couldn't see a solution, 'when you get home, why don't you sit down on the floor and ask your little darling to kick you in the kidneys for a couple of hours.'
