Stupid or inconsiderate

Cars are frequently blocking the route 58 tram down below from turning left into Toorak Road by stopping well past the stop line and the 'stop here on red arrow' sign. Remember the car using the bike lane as a car lane?

There is no other word for these drivers featured below. They are either very stupid or nastily inconsiderate. Let's begin here with the right way to treat pedestrians. That is, not block where they cross with your vehicle. Good drivers leave the pedestrian crossing path clear when there is congested traffic, just like these most excellent drivers did.

But they are few and far between. There is absolutely no reason for drivers to block the pedestrian crossing path, aside from them thinking they are far more important than the pedestrians. Blocking the crossing gives them no time advantage at all. All photos are of stationary vehicles and pedestrians crossing legally on the green walk sign.

    1. The Padre, a useful fashionable term for selfish and inconsiderate.

  2. It isn't an either or question. There are far too many stupid AND inconsiderate drivers (and people) in this world. And the Padre is right about their attitude.

  4. There are far too many inconsiderate, stupid, ignorant drivers on our roads...everywhere.

Have yourself a good week, Andrew. :)

  7. I can tell you the town south of me, Sandpoint and one on foot and in cross walk. If you get caught not letting someone in cross walk have the right away you get ticket.

Get a hobby. Crochet. The Life and Times of Barnaby Joyce. Barrack for Collingwood. Keep off the balcony. You know I'm right.

    1. Marie, I'd choose crochet of those three options, and I could do it on the balcony!

  9. Frankly I'm not surprised at the chaos. It looks a total mess down there. If is wasn't for the trams, I would suggest a simple roundabout with flyover footpaths for pedestrians. Maybe YOU should work on a new system, and offer it to your town planners.

    1. Cro, when I complain to the appropriate authority, I at times begin, I am not a traffic engineer, but... It's too busy for a roundabout. Traffic would never move. Trams run through our roundabouts, with right of way.

  10. Stupid AND inconsiderate. Where's a copper when you want one?
They need traffic cameras like the speed cameras, to catch those blockers and fine them.

    1. River, the cops just won't act, no matter how people complain. Yes, cameras are the way of road law enforcement in the future.

    1. Gattina, I disagree. I have seen traffic in Amsterdam, Brussels and other European cities and it is much better controlled and disciplined than here. Perhaps not so much in Lisbon.

  13. Inconsiderate!

Stupid is when Trump joked that the USA should follow China in allowing its leaders to serve indefinitely.
The ruling Communist party plans to abolish term limits on the Chinese presidency, paving the way for President Xi to extend his authoritarian rule for at least another decade. “He’s now president for life. President for life. No, he’s great,” Trump said. “And look, he was able to do that. I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot some day.” Stupid and terrifying :(

  14. Those are great photos of bad driver behavior. Those pedestrians weaving in around cars blocking the crosswalk, they might be hot under the collar and should be.

I always make sure that I leave enough room for pedestrians, I am one myself. Serve these drivers right if somebody accidentally does an accidental scratch on their paintwork.

    1. Fen, the trouble is the kind of person who does kick cars is probably the same person who blocks crossings.
