Mardi Gras

Our Hairdresser Friend just emailed us with the following. The Broken Heel drag group, with which she has a connection, is the 21st float in this evening's Mardi Gras Parade, lived streamed on the www by SBS. Broken Heel is a pun on the outback NSW mining town Broken Hill. Broken Heel members have performed collectively in Broken Hill.

In 2015 I took a photo of the ANZ Bank atm, decorated for Mardi Gras.

Jim from Sydney City and Suburbs shows this year's ANZ GAYTM.

I feel pretty. Oh, so pretty. I feel witty and pretty and gay. Happy Mardi Gras.

  1. I didn't watch it this year but I could hear it! And when I was out and about this morning I saw many people glittered up, ready for tonight.

    1. BY, somewhat worse for wear on Sunday, although if their drugs were really good....

  2. To mark the introduction of same-sex marriage, the parade tonight featured a proper wedding! Two handsome young men will pledge their troth where the original Sydney Rainbow Crossing used to be. Perfect occasion for a wedding !

When it rained on our parade, we used to wish each other Happy Muddy Grass. I watched live streaming in Pattaya in the comfort of my air conditioned condo, snacks to hand and if I needed a wee, no more battling through the crushing crowds to the portaloo but a few steps to the en suite. Should have done this years ago. - Ian

    1. Ian, clever word play. The crowds the year we saw the parade were a nightmare. We didn't feel safe.

  9. All ATMs should be decorated and not just for Mardi Gras. Do they feature the parade on the news these days?
