Tuesday Take Out #1

Dear President, this is not a difficult problem, that is the problem of the massacre of school children while they are at school. Your plan to arm teachers may be considered by some, but I read that there was an armed guard on site at the school, to no avail.

Farmers may need guns. Police may need guns. Security guards may need guns. Tenuously, sporting shooters may need guns.

Teachers need guns? I bet most wish they had them at times and take out those most troublesome students.

Apart from the aforementioned, no one else needs guns. It is simple, just ban guns for everyone else. There will still be the underworld who have guns, but they generally will not impact on your average citizen, lest of all school kiddies.

Not hard Donny. Guns kill people in the hands of people, and you only have to look at the gun murder stats of the US compared to those of  Canada., or pretty well any other country in the western world.

It is a curious thing to me that US voters don't get this very obvious point. Yes, my blog gathers people with similar views. I am always preaching to the converted.

Somewhat curiously amusing and at the same time, quite serious, take a look at Hels post on the US and guns.

  1. Don't even start me on that disgusting man Andrew, the very sight of his ugly mouth spouting ugly words is enough to make me crazy. The US seems to be in an alternate reality these days and normally I wouldn't give a truck, their choice, but when his insane actions could cause world wide repercussions, it gets serious!

    1. Grace, yes, and we, Australia are automatically dragged into whatever corner of the globe where the US is meddling.

  2. Arming teachers!! Takes the biscuit doesn't it? Let's ignore the obvious and go for the ridiculous.

  3. Trump seems a silly man for his age, he doesn't come across grown up at all in my opinion.
What would happen if a teacher in the USA shot a pupil by mistake - there would be an uproar!

    1. Margaret, he does seem to lack maturity, doesn't he. There is a good chance an innocent student could be shot as it is often former students who commit the school crimes.

  4. I saw that idiot trump daughter giving an interview re guns. She said and I quote - "Obviously there would have to be an incredibly high standard for who would be able to bear arms in our schools" - perhaps what you should be looking at is setting an incredibly high standard for those who are able to bear arms in your country.

If we could get in the Delorean and go back and show the people responsible for the 2nd amendment the results it has produced, how much would you like to bet they would revoke it immediately? They were talking in the days when a musket was the arms you could bear, not a military grade assault rifle capable of murdering and injuring hundreds of people in seconds.

It is curious to me that the right to bear arms somehow becomes more important than the right to "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness".

I do not believe there is any answer to this problem. I have a very great friend who lives there and I fear for his safety. :(

    1. Snoskred, I really don't know how larger massacre it would take for serious change to happen. Interestingly Canada, like Australia, has a high suicide rate by men using guns.

  5. Arming the teachers????
What sort of example is that to students?
WTF is that overgrown oompa-loopa thinking?

    1. River, it teaches them that extreme violence is the way to deal with extreme violence. Not a good lesson.

  6. I've just read Hels post. It seems the US is no longer content to go to hell in a handbasket. They're putting in an express lane :(

  7. Mentally ill people kill people...a gun in a cupboard, not in the hands of the mentally ill doesn't kill people. A gun doesn't pull it's own trigger.

I won't get into the gun control conversation...because I'm not an American, and it's not part of my culture as it is in the American culture. The right to bear arms is in the American constitution. In all honesty, I don't believe I have the right to interfere in their rights.

And, I guess - I believe...this argument, these words could go back and forth ad infinitum via blogging...and there would be no winners...and there would be no outcome. The problem would still remain.

    1. Lee, we are offering our opinions and suggestions and frank dismay, not really interfering. You are absolutely correct in your last paragraph but certainly not saying anything about it won't help either.

    2. Saying or doing nothing about it is not what I'm trying to ipart, Andrew. I was saying that I, along with everyone here, could write a trillion or more words re this subject and we would be getting no where. We could go back and forth, hour after hour....

I guess I'm not explaining myself well enough for my meaning to be understood in this type of forum, so it's best I just shut up! lol

    3. Yes, I did understand your point. My little rant will make no difference and nor will any ongoing or present comments but neither will do harm won't do harm and who knows, but someone in the US will read this and have a think.

  8. Kids in the UK kill each other with knives. Sadly there's no way of getting rid of those!

    1. Cro, knives can be controlled and the numbers reduced but yes, not completely stopped. At least it is a lot harder to massacre many with one knife.

  9. I do't know what is wrong with America and its obsession with guns. In rural areas, people are so paranoid they will need them to kill their liberal neighbors or government agents. Paranoia is extreme, fueled by hate radio. It's about all you get on the radio now, if there's talk--right wing extremist anti government nutcase talk. Must have a HUGE market. Anyhow, America has gone sick in the head I think when I hear more guns to be the answer to all these mass shootings.

    1. Strayer, you boil it down, guns are the problem, so reduce the number in society.
