Irresistible

From The Age.

She hasn't denied she has approached a couple seeking an abortion at a fertility and abortion clinic. 13 children and she has time to harass women seeking an abortion! Most women are very troubled with conflicting thoughts when they seek an abortion. They don't need people like her around to cause them further stress. I don't know about her, but most of the anti abortion protesters at the said clinic are religious nutters.

Kathleen Clubb, a mother of 13, is believed to be the first person charged under new safe-zone laws that prohibit protests within 150 metres of abortion clinics.

  1. I worked in a clinic for many years and faced vicious men and women on the front footpath at least once a week. Of course the protestors didn't know which patients were there for contraception, which patients needed abortions and who was there for sterilisation. So the clinic staff kept the gates protected _all_ the time, to help the patients get through safely.

Thankfully the new legislation protects women and couples better, these days.

    1. Hels, yes, which is why I specifically mentioned fertility. I get rather cross when I hear about the harassment of people who are probably quite distressed about the process.

  2. It's none of their business. Here, the pro life people want to protect fetuses but once the child is born, to hell with it. they do not support social programs for poor women, want them done away with, and yet want to force babies to be born, that will not be cared for, grow up on welfare, and often become criminals or reliant on welfare too as they have grown up with that as their norm around them.

    1. Strayer, that's a very valid point. To be fair, our large anti abortion organisation does offere support to women who 'change their minds'.

  3. Totally agree Andrew, I've never understood some people's need to force their beliefs on others.

    1. Grace, it seems to happen the world over in so many ways and of course, it is wrong.

  4. Our local government set up exclusion zones a while ago. People have been charged. And are appealing (though their behaviour doesn't appeal to me at all.)

    1. EC, that is good to know. I hope the appeals are not successful.

  5. Nutters who should mind their own bloody business, in my opinion.

    1. Lee, most of us should mind our business, unless we see wrongs, which we see here.

  6. "prohibit protests within 150 metres"
I'd make it 150 miles, or designate a 'protesters' area somewhere way out in the middle of nowhere. When it comes to these abortion/fertility clinics, the protesters have no rights as far as I'm concerned.

    1. River, so true. Perhaps they should just mind their own business.

  7. The once who are against legal abortion are those who don't think about the children. An unwanted child is given away for adoption (that's when its lucky) the others are killed, thrown out of a window, starved to death, beaten up to death or shook to death, you can read this daily in the newspapers. And even worse ! Lately the police found a freeze with 13 baby bodies in it just new born. Then I think it is better to let the woman decide. At the end it's always the child which pays the bill ! I don't think that this is very Christian ! Not in all women is a hidden sleeping mother !

    1. All so true, Gattina. European people from what I know, have a much more enlightened view about pregnancy termination. Did you like the way I didn't use the loaded word, abortion.
