Cacophony

It would have been stretching it to give this the title of Musical Monday. I was sitting in my car in a car park and this cacophony by ravens began. What a racket. It must be the time of the year for bird jiggy jiggy.

Little Jo has used something on our computer called Windows Movie Maker. Do you think I can find it? I downloaded a very easy to use programme but it does not allow a lot of control over what happens.

The noisiest part is between 20 and 30 seconds.

  1. Lots of our birds are beautiful. Few of them are precisely musical.

    1. EC, ravens certainly aren't musical, but many song birds make very complex music, apparently with circular breather they can sing two notes at once. (Yes, I just heard this two days ago, so it is in my head)

    1. Dora, a solo raven can make a very mournful sound.

  3. If I wanted to wake up to natural music, it would be ocean waves lapping next to the back door, the labrador waiting at the front door with a leash in his mouth, the sound of espresso coffees being made downstairs or the Radio National music marking the change-over from overnight BBC World Service. Not a raven cacophony :)

    1. Hels, indeed not, although warbling magpies are quite nice. I too love the sound of the sea.

    2. Hels; when I buy my ocean front mansion you're welcome to sit by my back door where I will have a huge partly covered deck looking out over the waves.

    1. Fen, a bit like people really. At times they spoil their cleverness with too much talk.

  5. Very raucous birds, but I like to hear them. We have Rooks and Crows that are similar sounding.

  6. You have Windows 10, right? Windows Live Movie Maker is listed in the start menu. It's definitely bird jiggy-jiggy time. I see birds everywhere chasing, being chased preening each other.

    1. River, yes, Windows 10 but it is not in my start menu and a Cortana search won't find it either. I have since learnt Microsoft has discontinued it and I suspect it may have been removed from my computer in an update.

  7. Ravens are very noisy and sometimes they sound to me as it it's babies crying.

    1. Sami, yes, they can sound like that. It is a sad sound at times.

  8. Crikey Andrew ...... just as well you didn't say anything bad about ravens. Mum's bird crazy. She loves 'em all but ravens or crows are favourites because she reckons they are much maligned. They are very smart and mate for life and make the best parents. They are noisy but so are lots of other things.

    1. Charlie, mate for life hey. Well, it was believed swans mated for life and were faithful, until they did DNA tests.

  9. Crikey! They are noisy aren't they, but I prefer this group noise to just one sitting in the birdbath outside my window going CAW CAW.. that's just downright annoying 😀

  10. @PerthDailyPhoto: caw back at him, see what happens. You could have a whole conversation without understanding a single caw.
