The ten quid note

I have seen this sketch before, quite some time ago, yet I didn't remember the punchline and it came as surprise to me. It is not belly laugh stuff and Dave Allen gives a very restrained performance. It is a stretch to say it is one the funniest sketches of all time. 2:45

  1. I'd forgotten about Dave Allen. That was an unexpected ending worth watching.

  2. Humour is such a subjective thing.
Such a young Dave Allen. Like the unexpected ending, and am smiling - but not guffawing. Probably just as well since the rest of the house is asleep.

    1. EC, good lord. I wouldn't want to be responsible for waking the household.

  5. Dave Allen started in 1971, exactly when we moved to London. I love him in his own right, but he also evokes the hair dos, cars, crappy tea shops and houses of my years over there!

    1. Hels, I wonder if the London of '71 was as good as you memories of it are.

  7. I remember seeing this before and thinking how I hadn't seen a ten-pound note very often as a child, then we moved to $$$ and cents and I forgot what the old money looked like.
    It's still a funny clip.

    1. River, although I was seven when $$$ arrived, I can't remember the notes either, aside from them looking very impressive and official.
