It is a bit funny that am considerate of my core readership and don't go too far when I am talking about men, gay matters, and sex, and even general life. The aforesaid core readership is around an average of 60 years old, so I don't want to offend my middle aged and older readership.

Except, I suddenly realised, I am nearly of that age. Hels gave me that clue, that my older female readership is not prim and ever so proper. These are not older women to whom I should show a dignified respect, but my equals. They have grown up in the same era I have. They have had the same experiences.

  1. Some the same, some different. And speaking for myself, I don't do prim. And struggle with proper.

  2. I might be a part of your non-core readership then.. ;)

    1. Snoskred, only because of your age perhaps. Stop bragging about your youthfulness.

  3. Heh. Yep, I am at the older reaches of the sixties (okay, am turning 67 horribly soon), but never was, and am unlikely to be now, prim or proper. *naughty giggle*

    1. Rozzie, you reinforce my point perfectly well.

  4. ditto what everyone said above. Being 68 means never having to give a damn what anybody thinks about anything.
re your "don't go too far" - we have all seen In And Out and loved it. get a grip. [and the fabulous Debbie Reynolds who was in it has died of a stroke the day after her daughter. If Carrie could speak to us I am sure she would accuse Mom of trying to steal her funeral scene].
going away now to trawl pron gifs on Twttr.

    1. Oh Annie, pron gifs do suit my short boredom threshold. I remember you once chastised me for going too far in a comment somewhere, sometime, a long time ago. It was probably deserved.

    2. Annie,

Remember those very cool 1960s? Those 1963-69 years were the best time ever!!

    1. Lordy, another youngun. If I cared more about sex and less about pron, I would ask you to be my sex counsellor.

  6. I'd cope too, although I might object to any words or images that are obviously pornographic.
I really, really hate that 'C' word. I remember hearing it said with such viciousness that I recoiled physically.

    1. River, I am not planning to be extreme. I too hate that word. It must be the harsh c and t that makes it so bad. Some feminists like to take possession of the word and say softly, but it still sounds bad to me.

  8. The only prim and proper reader you've ever had was RH, the rest of us are disgraceful and that's when we are sober.

Annie, first thought I had, was Carrie grinding her teeth at mother upstaging her again.

    1. Jah Teh, it was probably that made me realise that none of my readers are prim and proper.
