There is technology to love

Bringing a power board along when travelling may seem excessive but it was worth it.
Charging:

2 mobile phones
2 tablet computers
1 camera
1 Kindle
1 digital radio

What a mess.

We are fortunate that all bar my digital radio use the same plug and socket for charging, I think called a micro cable/socket. Using this clever device means that you can just unplug the USB plug and use the cable alone to charge from another power source, such as plugging it into your desktop computer, although it takes longer to charge.

Gee, it would be handy if someone made an electric plug that could take more USB cables to charge devices. Ah ha, someone has. Brilliant, so for our forthcoming holiday to Perth next week, the power board can stay home. $35 from the large office supply shop but for all I know they may be in $2 type shops but I am not so keen on small and cheap Chinese electrical products. This no doubt is a small and expensive Chinese electrical product.

  1. And to think we once laughed at people who would take a portable TV on a camping holiday. Have a great holiday in Perth (jealous). You will have to organise a blog meet-up with Grace.

    1. Carol, you have rekindled some memories, not my family, but I remember tents with a small black and white tv with the antenna fully extended. Some ran on D batteries. I have made some private contact with Grace. Thrusting such unknown people to R into his face is hard. I have to be careful, but Grace is quite lovely.

  2. Your mention, a couple of years back, of taking a power board on your holiday was the single best travel tip I received.

That board was a godsend on my visits to North America and Europe in the past two years.

    1. Victor, sadly it was not my idea. Picked up from Marcus Wong, I think. Can your Apple devices all go into one neat plug?

    2. They all have the same 'lightening' connection to the device although the plugs themselves can differ slightly.

  3. My K has a couple of those multiple usb chargers, one is spider shaped with a port at the end of each leg. I don't think she actually needs that many, but she does love gadgets.

    1. River, I am not surprised that they were available for some time. K's mother quite seems to like gadgets too. :-)

  4. Himself has one which lives in the car so he can charge multiple items at once. He also loves gadgets. Lots of gadgets.
How are you feeling today? Better I hope.

  7. It would be easier if our devices all took the same plug. Camera ,Phone and Tablet all different.

    1. True! Because our phones have top priority if there aren't enough places to charge, I think the phone people must design their unique plug on purpose.

    2. Diane, I think it is a problem for Apple devotees. Among your multitude of cameras, I am not surprised there is not one plug. Gosh, it must be extra hard for you charging things when on holidays.

  8. So many things that need USB and plugs needed when travelling. That USB you bought looks excellent for travelling. So many different cords with not the same ends as well. When we go away I have a bag full of cords and plugs.

    1. Margaret, it seem this holiday, we won't need all those things, just the plug and four cables, plus my digital radio charger plug. I leave my electric toothbrush at home and rely on my old battery one.
