Monster Alive

Sorry if you have ice or snow issues at the moment, although where there should be snow and ice seem rather bereft of the product this year. Such phenomenons are unimaginable by Australians. The sound quality is awful with a lot of hootin' and hollerin' in this video but the ice is amazing. 1:34

A news report on invading ice from the American ABC. Scary. I think I'll stick with our floods and fires. 2:07

As a reward for your attention, here is a bonus video from Toronto Zoo. Pandas are not what you would call graceful animals, are they. 0:51

    1. Margaret, I guess when you get extreme weather, it might be exciting, though I don't know that we get so excited.

And loved all of the videos. Thanks.

  5. All that ice is a powerful force your house wouldn't stand a chance but at least it's not fast moving so you have time to get out of the way.
Panda is a cutie if a bit slow at climbing.

    1. Merle, that is quite true although at times it does seem to move fast enough, but maybe not faster than walking pace.

  6. I thought the panda's graceful slow mo tumble was face saving for him or her, in a way. The river ice break up is a huge event in Alaska. There are often betting pools and prizes for guessing the closest time for the break up.

    1. Strayer, that is probably what I thought. The breaking up of ice is an event to be noted. I should know, but how come the US got Alaska and it is not part of Canada?

  7. Greetings. The inside flap on TALLY-HO cigarette papers always offers an amazing fact.*
One of the latest is that Australia gets more snow and ice than the whole of Switzerland.

    *Smoking is educational.

    1. RH, our Tally Ho papers are very old and strictly for shaving cut purposes but there isn't an educational slogan, apart from "Our specially cut corners make rolling easier". The fact is interesting and I will add my own. Smokers tend to be more interesting and fun people, which is why non smokers join smokers outside venues and houses etc.

  8. The Invasion of the Giant Ice Cubes!
I'm sorry for the people who lost their houses, what an unexpected thing to have happen. I hope their insurance covers it.
The panda looks like he was having fun tumbling down the snow.

    1. River, in one of the clips, maybe not the ones here, there were houses very close to the shore of the lake with little elevation from the water. A house thirty seconds walk from the lake may come at a price.

    2. I would have a house back at least 50 metres. Close enough to the water, but far enough back to avoid disaster.

  9. I think the weather is completely boozed ! When my friend was in Toronto she had 15°C !! now in January. We had no snow and the warmest January since weather records. But rain and rain and rain.
The videos are impressing ! Pandas are so funny we have two here in Belgium and they also climb this funny way. I still don't get your comments in my emails ! Apparently it is due to Yahoo, I had another case, and two of my friend's yahoo email addresses were hacked and used for asking for money ! They had to change their address and took gmail.

  10. (Freezing) Tasmania is part of Australia of course, which is a headache for tourist shops.
I started smoking to get accepted by other young louts. I'm paying for it now.
I'm guessing you missed the MISS GAY & MISS TRANSSEXUAL AUSTRALIA beauty pageant down here at the Substation Arts centre. I missed it too. Meanwhile there's lots else going on here in Noo port; three new latte shops have opened in twelve months. I poked my noggin into one of them last Saturday and thought I was in Lygon street. It's frightening.

    1. RH, when we moved to Balaclava there was not one latte shop. Now, there are many, but the hardware store, the men's clothing and so many other useful places have gone.

  11. I'm wondering how long Vinnies in Mason street can hold out, it's an ideal space. Even our old milk bar on the corner of Schutt (shit)and Newcastle streets is undergoing renovation to become latte. It's very small and remotely situated, I'm interested to see how it goes.

  12. As much as I love the thought of snow and cold weather, in reality our gorgeous Perth weather, bar a few hot days in summer is hard to beat! Laughed out loud at the panda, adorable :)
