I love the smell of diesel in the morning

Sometimes these videos are like watching paint dry and run for an excessive time and at times it is only because the engines just take forever to start. Speakers on for this brief yet tense clip. Will the engine catch? 1:05

  6. There is only one thing I want to see/hear/smell in the morning and that is an espresso coffee. In perfect silence! After 8 AM!

People who get up at 4 am and start work at 5 am have my full admiration (but not my envy). The train driver looks like a jolly chap.

  7. Standing on the overhead bridge as a steam train roared underneath billowing its smoke echo fond memories as a child. Not sure about diesel smoke though.

    1. Diane, with your climate, it would be rising steam from a wet forest.

  9. Steam trains any size or shape, trolley buses, trams any size or shape (even those noisy green and yellow ones we had years ago) yes - diesel anything no ( any time of the day but especially first thing in the morning)

    1. Cathy, yet diesel trains are the backbone of country trains and the UK's too.

    1. Margaret, I guess the smell of raw diesel is different to burnt or semi burnt diesel.

  11. I had no idea they smoked so heavily on start up. Is that normal? Seems very pollutive to me.

    1. River, only old diesel trains. Modern ones don't blow much smoke.

  12. I'm built like a steam train but smell like Chanel, so much better.
I was going to beat your cars with mine but microsoft downloaded from the camera then bypassed 8.1 and 10 hid them in a bloody cloud somewhere.
I have a cunning plan to hook up my old XP, get the photos again and put them on CD. I hate microsoft.

    1. Funny Jah Teh, I thought you smelt more like Tabu. I too hate some of things Windows 10 does. I have never been keen on anything or anyone preempting what I might do.
