Fashion (co-incidence that Bowie had a song called Fashion)

What should I write about? If I had something ready for tomorrow, I would ask you, but I don't so here we go.

Should I write about, being dumped by a blogmate? It hurts. Should I write about the hot black guy at work who is so terribly vain? What about women's fashion? I know my market. Let's go for women's fashion.

I have noticed women, some young women, wearing full dresses, often with a floral printed fabric. I quite like the look and even on larger women a full dress pulled in at the waist, no matter how large the waist is, can still look quite good. Add some subtle makeup, no add more (my motto is if in doubt, add more), and nylons with sensible shoes slightly raised, and you have a classy chick of any age and almost any build.

A little more dangerous is the current fashion trend for tight skirts. Even as a gay male, I used to appreciate women in tight skirts in mid 20th century movies. I think Mother used to wear tight skirts. She has only very recently started wearing pants during the winter for warmth, but only at home. She said, I have a small bottom and pants don't suit me.

I think this lass looks quite good, with a nicely defined rear that is neat.

Who would have thunk it; astonishingly a Kardashian has an arse way to big for a tight skirt. Yes, I am gay, but even so, does an arse like that work for straight guys? Probably does but I mean like, what can you do with it? I not like.

The Kardashian exhibit really shows what I mean.

This looks nice and stylish, don't you think?

  1. Fashion is not my friend. And the tight skirt look is one that only a very few people wear well. Shoes with heels? Makeup? Not a happening thing here.
I hope you are wrong about being dumped by a blogmate. It would hurt a lot.

    1. EC, fine to stick with a style that suits you and you feel comfortable with. It is when people step out of their league or comfort zone that it all starts to go wrong, like me wearing a suit. I have learnt to harden up about blog stuff. People come, people go.

  2. The Kardashian 'super booty' doesn't appeal to me but I understand is highly regarded (on men and women) in some South Pacific cultures.

    1. Gosia, so very few people can wear really tight clothes and look good.

  4. The floral dress, a return from the past!
Can't imagine myself in one once again. No waist, it's been gone a long time! However, florals can be pretty.
The black tight skirt, yes used to wear when younger. Always wore high heels but low ones, not so much these days....I love fashion.

That Kardashian women, good heavens, the black like a big bum..I say no more.

    1. Margaret, the woman in the last photo in the dress is not really thin. I think a well placed belt helps her shape.

  5. Ah fashion I loved it when young now I'm into comfort but every now and again it's fun to wear a dress and feel girly again and flirt with all the men around but happens less and less these days.

    1. Merle, I am sure it is fun to have flirt at times. It's good for the ego.

  7. Not so much into florals now... I have one particular dress I will NEVER let go of. It's a medium brown with cream polka dots; a much more subtle look than it sounds. Has a very 1930's vibe. Perfect with a pair of (very) low heels.

    1. Like the one Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman? I remember newspaper reports of the same dress being sold by the dozen all over the world after that movie was released. It's a very nice dress.

    2. Jac, I think I have a mental image of such a dress.

  8. That floral dress was sooooooo popular in my younger years. Then it died totally and was buried. And now I see my old dresses back in the glamorous shops with just a tweek here and there.

Goes to show: nothing is new under the fashion sun.

  10. Someone dumped you? who I wonder? and why?
I don't like tight skirts at all, I just don't like seeing bums and bellies so clearly outlined.
I do like seeing girls and women in more old fashioned dresses like the one you have pictured there. I've noticed a trend here in Adelaide with little girls, five years or less, dressed in pretty dresses with lace and bows etc, pretty shoes.

    1. River, I agree with you. I see teenage girls getting around in very brief shorts and it just seems wrong to me. There is just so little mystery these days and the mystery can be exciting. I like the way young girls dress up in dresses etc.

  11. David Bowie was a mediocre talent. It's all fiction. Take away the face paint, hair colour, weird attire etc and what's left? The same can be said for the cut outs parading along Brunswick/Chapel street. Likewise the mortgagees getting a fireworks show New Years Eve. What's left? Another long year of interest payments.

  13. Nice post. And yes that woman in the first photo looks fantastic! I would love to be able to wear an outfit like that, but alas being a 'pear' (ok well a bit more of an 'orange' these days lol) I have never been able to rock a tight straight skirt. It's a-line or pleats for me, which means a lifetime of walking down city streets clutching your skirt against wind gusts, or just wearing pants :)
That Kim Kardashian photo is actually one of the more flattering I have seen of her. Mostly I admit I think she looks terrible in those skirts.

    1. Jackie, you would be in the majority then and maybe not helped by your ethnic genes. I am sure you still cut a smart figure on the street on non windy days.

  14. it's good to know that I am not the only one who runs out of post ideas especially in this dull month of January. I used to wear mini skirts, dresses and suits, but since I am retired I only wear trousers or Jeans, from elegant to garbage look ! I think to wear a dress with huge flowers you have to be very slim !

    1. Gattina, I never run out of ideas. I run out of time to write them. You are quite slim, so you could wear a dress with large flowers.

    2. Garbage look! I like that description, fits me perfectly.

  15. I stick with the thrift store look. Although once I borrowed clothes from a friend for a night out (turned out rather tame) and dressed up to the hilt and I loved it. That was years ago, but people did not even recognize me. She has closets full of clothes and I'm otherwise quite limited.

    1. Strayer, what a shame you effort did not result in a fabulous night out. As we say here, all dressed up and no where to go.

    1. So Fen, you would pay to have work done that makes your skirt gather in folds to sit above the work you have had done? It is an odd world.
