Nowt written for today

In case you missed it in comments, the computer has fixed itself. As Margaret suggested and I already had my suspicions from what I had read, it seems it was a Windows 10 update that caused the problem and subsequently another Windows 10 update fixed the problem.

If this theory is correct, it is appalling work by Microsoft, causing me to waste hours and be stressed about the change. I have three weeks left to decide whether I switch back to Windows 7 and I am sorely tempted with my present frame of mind.

  1. I have not updated to windows 10 as I know it will create numerous problems as most updates seem to do.

    1. Marie, there really isn't much point in doing so, I think.

  2. I have Mac OS X El Capitan, Version 10.11.1. It's the first upgrade I've done with no unfortunate/frustrating results. I'm glad you at least are back up and running!

    1. Gosia, from what I have heard, no-body likes 8.

    1. EC, I do not trust Microsoft. This regular updating for 10 is an easy way to slip in things we may otherwise not want.

    2. I read somewhere (I think) that the option to turn off automatic updates has been disabled....

    3. EC, not from what I saw. It seemed to be easy to turn updates off.

  5. I am not upgrading, too old to go through it all again.

    1. Agree Strayer, but upgrading does keep your mind very active.

  6. Three weeks gives you plenty of time to work with 10 and see if you two are compatible, if not, switch back just before you time runs out, and use the blog to let everyone know the problems you're having.
Hopefully someone from Microsoft will be reading......you could also email Microsoft and tell them of your dissatisfaction with 10.

    1. River, some things I write about and I know media monitors will pick up and what I say will be noticed, but believe me, no one at Microsoft will give a toss about what I write. The logistics of it are impossible.

    1. Hels, you are in trouble now. I have scheduled your Modern Jewish Life in Australia and how it sits with a secular Australia guest post for the 21st of this month.

  8. Andrew, it's always good to help if possible. It's pleasing it's sorted out. I will keep Windows 10.
Yes, it's frustrating looking for fixes for the computer, but for me it's the way I learn, but I have time where as you work making it harder...

    1. Margaret, I so agree about the learning thing. The trouble had me looking at all sorts of things in Windows 10 and I know a lot more than I would have otherwise.

    1. Gattina, perhaps you had better set up a password on your devices so that he does not install Windows 10 when you are not looking.

  10. I haven't really heard anyone saying 'I LOVE Windows 10' I'm taking that as a bad sign :)

    1. Good point Grace. No one is saying, make the change, it is great.

  11. These things are so annoying. All these companies keep pressuring us to update without warning us, that if we do, everything might turn to shit.

I'm glad things fixed themselves for you.

    1. Dina, if you have smart phone with say 20 apps on it, at least half of them will be asking to update once a week. I've never known anyone to have trouble by not updating.
