Surfers Paradise Day 3 Pt 2

There are quite a number of rides at Seaworld for the younguns and the not so young. Most are of the kind that neither you nor I would choose to front up to. However, this one seemed popular with older and younger.

Yes, people get wet, but not soaked.

I did not, as I remember an incident involving Steve Irwin, but you can reach in and stroke the the stingrays as they pass by.

You can buy some food to feed this fish. Pelicans were resting on rocks a little above and seemed uninterested in what might this evening's dinner for them.

While we only arrived minutes before the jet ski show began, we managed to find a shaded area to sit.

It was surprising to learn that jet skis don't have to be noisy.

The performers were very skilled in the craft.

We watched a helichopper land. Yes, more tall buildings in the background.

The mythical sea serpent.

Most of these models were animated.

To the penguin area. Swimming penguins.

Moulting penguins. Never eat the yellow snow.

Penguins keeping company.

Penguin species agree to mutual segregation. Gentings to this corner, others to the rear.

The dark blob with a beak is a baby penguin.

We had to collect our VIP passes to queue jump at the next attraction we would visit.

There was a waiting taxi for us. After some rest, we took a long walk along the beach at a slow place. The first time the water hit our feet, it felt chilly. The second time, quite a bit warmer. It was lovely to feel warm water over our feet. We people watched as we strolled. Everyone seemed so happy and why should they not when they were in such a nice place on such a delightful beach.

We felt like a steak for dinner, well I did. $12 steaks seem to be a Surfers Paradise speciality. I wanted one at the casino the night before but the $12 steak was only for members. We went to Clocks Hotel and I had a $12 steak. I have had worse and paid a lot more. It was so nice sitting out in the warm evening air as people came and went. A slim lad in a singlet who had blue hair tucked into his cap sat for as long as we did, he having two glasses of beer and talking for the whole time on his phone. Gay but not out, I surmised.

  2. Steve Irwin was a serial animal molester. A tragic death waiting to happen.
    Thank you for the penguins.
Loved the sea serpent as well. I too did not know that jet skis don't have to be noisy.
    Live and learn.

    1. EC, I only saw some clips of him in action after he died. I can't say I like what he did or him much either.

The Genting penguins are very regal, yes?

    2. Gentings? Or Gentoo? I am a big sucker for penguins. All of them.

    3. You would not have corrected me if you weren't right so I hang my head but welcome the correction. Yes, Gentoo penguins and Genting Highlands in Malaysia.

  3. It sounds like for a wonderful time! Funny incident with a stingray many years ago, at Florida's Sea World... it kept following me around the pool, and when I bent over and place my hand flat on top of the water, it kept swimming back and forth rubbing it's back on my hand.

Sounds as though you and R had a wonderfully restful holiday, this makes me glad. =)

  4. It all looks like lots of fun.
How was the $12 steak, you didn't say. Animated sea serpents, well you don't see that everyday.

    1. Merle, I did about the steak up to a point. I've paid more for worse. It was ok, but nothing wonderful.

  5. That first ride looks like fun, I'd probably go on that a time or two. The rest looks like a great day out, especially walking the beach with water on your feet.

    1. River, I would if I did not get wet. Yes, walking the water is something we never do and it was blissful.

    1. Hels, rather. Sting+ray equals for me a creature not to come in contact with.

    1. Grace, of course you are right. A week in Surfers is long enough unless you have a car and can explore further.

SeaWorld looks great, many things to see...

    1. Margaret, I think it is the best park on the Gold Coast for adults. $12 steaks abound in Surfers.

  9. So much more to see and do than just watch the marine animals.

  10. The only other 'world' I've been to on the GC was Movieworld, and as I recall, that's a LOT more commercial! Seaworld has a good mix of natural attractions and shows, I think. It doesn't look that different to many years ago except for the sea serpent. On a fine day, there's little to beat the GC, I say!!

    1. Red, yes I really like Seaworld. Not so much Movieworld, but its target is really the young and very young. I was impressed with Gold Coast, for what it was.
