Oh Mrs Worthington, what have you done

Some of you may remember we and our two travelling companions met the delightful Jane and Lance Hattat in Budapest last year and they gave us a day of their time to show us some sights. You can read about the time we spent with them here

When recently I heard that Lance was going to be performing in something called Love in Budapest, I assumed it was an amateur stage production, but no, it is a movie. Ok, a local Hungarian movie?

No, Jane and Lance will be in a movie with a world wide release. The lead actor is Australian born George Lazenby, who once played James Bond.

My god, they will be famous and we know them. Quite a few years ago I started calling them JayLa, a combo of their names and a play on Jaylo, Jennifer Lopez. Little did I imagine that they would find themselves in an big time movie and may become the Brangelina of 2016.

I don't know what Jane's role will be, apart from being called Miss Dottie, a radio presenter. Lance's role as Robert is of a manager of of decaying dance bar where he indulges people with artistic and musical talent. How close to his real life is that!

The movie was launched at the British Embassy in Budapest and Jane on your right can be seen entertaining fellow guests with her no doubt witty repartee.

Lance is in this photo, with the hair. It seems someone has just told a naughty joke!

Here is poster for the movie. There are a couple of rather nice English lads in the movie, especially the quite delectable Jamie Finch.

There is already an entry at International Movie Data Base, IMDB. Isn't this so exciting but we will have to wait until 2016 to see the movie. Expect to hear more about the movie from me when the time comes for its release.

  2. Darling Andrew,

You are too too kind. This is such a kind post and we do so wish that you were here once more in Budapest to share this adventure with us.

Your visit confirmed how very real friendships can be made in this virtual world of blogging and we are sad that, in reality, you and R are half a world away from us. We feel so much closer than that.

Love in Budapest should be huge fun but, whatever, it has made us aware of the fantastic support of our friends in urging us on. One of us will appear mainly as a voice but the other of us will have the name in lights at the beginning and the end of the film. It may have taken us a long time to be discovered but, we are living proof, that it is never too late to live the dream.

Come back soon, darlings! We miss you xxxxxx

    1. JayLa, we may well be up for one more big Euro holiday in a year or two and it would be very unlikely that we would avoid Budapest. I wonder if we remember Budapest with such good feelings were it not for you.

I am sure you will acquit yourselves very well under a good director. Now, you must have some lines to learn and poses to strike.

      xxx

  3. So you can truly say "We knew them when!" I suspect they'll end up stealing the show.

    1. Jac, there will be a good chance they may steal the show. They both have good 'presence'.

  6. They come across as a fun, gregarious couple Andrew. Generous too with their comments. I've always wanted to visit Budapest but haven't yet which is a bit of a crime given that it's easy to reach from here. I don't think that C could manage it now so maybe I'll pencil in a couple of "me" days and take in the city. Autumn sounds nice.

    1. They are just that, Craig. It is a great city, up there with the best of Europe, but with still something of its recent past about it.

  10. Did you love Budapest? My in laws are Czech, but my mother in law survived the war by hiding in Budapest. She went back for the first time to visit in 1994 and thought it was a beautiful city.

    1. Of course I do Hels. As you commented at the time when I wrote the post, it is one of your big three, Budapest, Prague and Vienna. It is a beautiful city and in some aspects, saved by the years of communism.

  11. Always exciting to see someone you know on the big screen. I still recall our excitement at taking our seats at the initial screening of The Godfather in time to see one of our co workers in the preceding advertisement for an airline company.

    1. The Godfather Victor? Gosh, was in TAA or Ansett, or may be BOAC?

    2. Pan American, in fact. The co worker was of Italian origin and the advertisement showed her flying to Italy to visit her relatives.

    3. Right. I must properly proof read every comment I make now. I am making too many mistakes. Pan Am, hey. Wonder what happened to them? I checked. The airline collapsed in 1991.
