CPR

If you are British, you may well have seen this on your tv. I kind of know Vinnie Jones from tv or movies or somewhere. I think it quite a good ad and worth watching, and it is educative. The second one with children, well, it is there for you to watch but I didn't find it so interesting.

  1. Andrew, at my place we have to teach CPR obligatory at schools so I do it with my students once a month and we watch an educative video as a reminder.I think it is obligatory in European Union.

    1. Gosia, I don't think it is as rigorous here, but many of the teachers would be trained and certain people are always trained in workplaces.

  2. Very good except it scarcely shows the hand action needed; which I would think is the ultimate lesson to be taught.

    2. Victor, I bow to your superior knowledge but I thought I understood it well enough.

  3. Interesting that they don't do the breathing part. Love the song.

    1. Diane, I guess the idea is that at least people do something, however imperfect and lacking. Who could not like the song.

  4. Clever - and fun. I have difficulties with ads which use children for the voice over unless, as this one is, it is targetted at their peers.

    1. EC, yes it might work for kids who see the clip when done by their peers.

  5. Well done but the patient would be dead by the time someone got around to the CPR..

    1. WA, there was a little pa-lava first, but it has to be a story that gets people's attention.

  6. Here's one I made earlier, ROFL!

Vinnie Jones was most memorable as Bullet Tooth Tony in Snatch, for me, anyway. I think that is Andy Beckwith behind him as well, who was Errol in Snatch.

    1. Snoskred, I am not familiar with the show, but I have seen play a villain in something. Yes, that opening line was good.

  7. I didn't know hands-only CPR would work, I thought you had to breathe for them as well. I did a short course once with a dummy and passed, but don't know that I could do it for real.

    1. Which is what the clip is about River. You might not feel confident giving mouth to mouth, and syncing that with chest compressions, but to just do hard chest compressions is very easy for most people, I should think.

  8. Enjoyed them both Andrew, Vinnie Jones was good in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120735/ Jason Statham was better :)

    1. Grace, that is a programme I would have watched but I can't really remember seeing it. Yes, Jason is rather nice.

  9. Very clever commercial but I didn't like the kids' version. Glad they at least removed the homophobic comment ("you only kiss your Missus on the lips"), although I think they removed only because it wouldn't fit the kids' version. I know it's appropriate to the Vinnie Jones character, but they could have done without it. Still, clever.

    1. Mitchell, interesting that you picked that up and while it is a valid point, I think his character using a word such as partner would have jarred. Perhaps 'squeeze' or another word could work.
