What's that thing called Mummy?

My gorgeously innocent readers will have no idea what this Christmas tree near The Ritz in Paris might resemble. I would be disingenuous in suggesting I am so innocent. The Paul McCarthy sculpture has created great mirth and a good bit of outrage. While I find it amusing, I don't find it artistic but then what do I know about art. Passion against it was so high vandals, or some may say decent public minded citizens, damaged it. It will be repaired and re-erected. Photos from The Guardian.

  2. Decent, public minded citizens should have complained to the council, not destroyed the thing.

  3. That's nothing ! 2 years ago they had a Christmas tree in Brussels made out of boxes it looked awful ! They had to dismantle it because people throw tomatoes against the boxes and the whole city protested ! Last year we had our nice huge Christmas tree from the Ardennes again !

    1. Gattina, I love the thought of people pelting it with tomatoes. People really do prefer more traditional Christmas trees.

  5. Perhaps if they painted traditional type decorations on it might look more Christmassy. More acceptable to more people.

    1. That would work River. I am hardly a prude but there is a matter of good taste. A bit a bit of decoration might have modified it enough to make it acceptable to most.
