Buildings and a meeting

I was waiting to meet a blog mate, one from overseas no less. While I waited I noticed an apartment in Summerland in Fitzroy Street up for sale. Very nice.

New people have moved in across the road. I bet R that by evening, all the outdoor lighting would be switched on. It was.

Not sure about the lions and the large pots. Have they moved here from Bulleen? Oh, they are only renting.

Oh yes, the blog mate meeting went just fine. You can't know someone over the internet and read their blog for years and like them and then not like them once you meet them. Or maybe you can, but it hasn't happened to me.

  1. Meeting blogfriends is a dangerous game ! I am very careful before I agree to a meeting or even invite somebody to meet me. So far I was really lucky. The blogfriends I met from Canada, and Australia in Brussels and another one I met in Oxford and a couple from South Africa in London, where exactly like on their blogs ! We really became friends and had a wonderful time together (to repeat !) One French girl from the Côte d'Azur I meet regularly, once in France, once in Belgium. She doesn't blog anymore but we became friends. I only had two disappointment a lady from Antwerp who turned out to be bipolar and rather crazy and another one from Norway who visited me in Waterloo with NO money at all ! I am not stingy but she couldn't even pay a coffee !

    1. Gattina, you have met a lot of blog people and some have been good. I am curious as to whether you thought the two failures of meeting were already suspicious in your mind.

  2. If they 'lost' the lions, I could live with the large pots.

I've liked all my blog friends that I've met in person so far, too.

  3. At least the lions aren't the sort you have to feed and walk!

Do they go out in the yard bit much?

    1. Fen, they appear to not be allowed inside the apartment.

  5. Re meeting people face to face when you have only known them on line.

Unless you want to get into their undies, you would meet people face to face because you like the way they write and you value their moral values/political views. Very rarely will your judgement be wrong.

I met my chat channel buddies in a get-together each year, in an Australian city or overseas, but only if I had liked what they wrote on the screen each night. If someone believed in citizens' rights to have guns, for example, I would not invite them to a channel dinner.

    1. Makes me think Hels. You have never expressed a desire to meet me, and nor I you. Does this mean that it would really be a pointless meeting as we already seem well connected? That is not to say I wouldn't if invited, and I expect vice versa. Oh well, maybe one day. There seems no urgency.
PS, I love that you used chat on IRC. What young person would know what that was?

    2. We had 39 marriages in the channel i.e people who "met" on line, then decided to take it up a notch or three! Most of those marriages seemed to go very well.

  6. I've only met two Andrew, one in Sydney, very nice and one in Yanchep also lovely, so have been lucky. That's quite an impressive outdoor area your new neighbors have there, can only imagine how much it would cost to rent this!!

  7. I can't imagine what it would cost to rent. The place is large and I reckon would be worth $2 million plus.
