Stop the warring

I have been giving a little thought to the Middle East of late, you know, weighing the pros and cons, this side shouldn't have done this and that side shouldn't have done that. I agree with that, one side, but I agree with that, the other side.

But then along comes a photo that catches you off guard, as I found this to be one to be. Your powers of logical reasoning go out the door and you no longer give a flying fuck about who is right and who is wrong. The whole thing is just so so wrong.

Photo from the Huffington Post.

Sad indeed - but I think it will NEVER end there, they, the two sides hate each other, the kids are bought up the same.
If anyone can find a solution, then that would be classified as the "miracle to end all miracles".

    1. Colin, I would have suggested that about Northern Ireland, yet it is almost ok there.

  2. It's a pity major countries tend to be polarised about the ME. At some point the Palestinians shall have to let go, no matter how "right" their cause.

In contrast to 40 or so years ago we now see more images/hear more reports of Palestinians as human.

I suspect that while Israel tries to destroy Hamas' capacity to strike this will continue and or escalate.

How do we enforce the notion of an eye for an eye? As of today, for every single attack on us there will be a single random attack on youse.
It would need a referee, really. With a whistle.

It's disgusting. It has bugger all to do with prophets and everything to do with profit. When the world is serious there will be no more arms industry. "Defence purposes only" = BS.

They all need a dose of laxettes and sent to bed without their dinner. All of 'em.
    Including Julia.

    1. FC, I think back to the photo of Julia and Hilary enjoying a cup of tea/coffee. Golda, Maggie and Sonja not withstanding, I really wish women could get around the table and sort things out.

  3. War is awful. Why can't they take a hint from groups of kids in playgrounds everywhere? They all just pitch in and play together, sharing stuff, getting along.

    1. Kids playing set a good example River. They see coloured skin but they don't see it and they don't mark out territories.

  4. My heart breaks at that image. What kind of society develops the concept of 'collateral damage' so soldiers could kill without guilt? And civilians could feel OK about it??

    Ours.

    1. Red, collateral damage is one of the worst examples. Remember the photo of the naked napalmed Vietnamese girl. It was suggested that the photo changed the course of public opinion.

Whenever I wish I was young again, I am sobered by memories of algebra.
