Not my family

I used to have a benign attitude to these stickers. I have grown to dislike them. Although you can combine them however you like, say a single mother with ten children, they speak to me of a middle class smugness, a certain self satisfaction, never mind the stereotyped roles. I did a smirk recently when I saw a gap in the line where presumable the male of the house once was. There was a small sign pointing to the gap saying, vacancy.

  1. Hahaha! That's very good ... and what happens when you want to sell the car?? Call me a killjoy, but they're about $10 each (I think) - but they seem de rigeuer for 'working families' who are 'doing it tough'!!

    1. $10 each Red? You're joking. They are sticker, that can be peeled off.

  2. Haha. A lot of people really dislike the My Family stickers. I don't get why they're so popular, but I don't dislike them.

I saw one yesterday which had the parents and SIX children. Not sure if they were having a brag about their fecundity or seeking sympathy. Either way, get a TV people.

    1. Jayne, said by someone who does not have a car and walks to work. Adding goldfish stickers is going a bit far.

  3. I didn't think much of them when I first saw them, now I barely notice them. There aren't that many here in Adelaide, unless I'm just not seeing them.

  4. I don't like them. That said, I did see one with one lady and 8 cats, though that was brilliant!

  5. That's funny. I saw a sign saying not 'Baby on Board ' but 'Bored kids on Board' that made me smile.

    1. Diane, not seen that one, but it is good. Don't we all remember long car trips when we were kids, without a dvd player.

  6. My favourite, because I do dislike them is...I don't give a flying f... Who's in your family. Haha! Actually they don't bug me so much any more, if there are some poor souls out there that need reminders of their family unit, so be it!!

  7. So that's why people have those funny looking stickers of people pasted on their cars! I've seen them around but haven't even been able to summon up the energy to wonder what they're about figuring they're just another lame sticker thing for lame people to stick on their cars like little kids plastering stickers everywhere.
The one that has always irked me is "Baby on Board". So, does that mean I should avoid getting too close because of the baby or because you think I care.

    1. Rubye, where did my comment go? Oh, it is my blog. I said something about the woman in the blue Rolls Royce who drives around town with Poodle on Board.

I love those "baby on board" signs. They remind me to drive safely to protect someone else's precious baby when I would normally drive like a freaking hoon with my own kids on board because I don't have a sign so my kids don't matter.

    1. Nice work Anon. You must get a sign to protect your children.
