Oh no! BTW - with Wordpress I have never had a spam problem. All suspected spam is thrown into a folder that you empty every now and then. Two or three times a year a real comment ends up in there but then all you do is un-spam it. Also Blogger is v. annoying because I often get "openID error" (not just on your blog) and have to try to post a comment again. Like right now for the fifth time...Makes commenting on Blogger blogs very tedious.
No worries. Besides, it's a chance to see the weird words that pop up as verification. This morning, my word is "conizat". Looks real, but heaven only knows what it mdeans.
Blogger has a similar facility Scott, but a heap were missed the other day. I'm not saying I will leave it on. It is mostly because I have to approve comments on posts more than two weeks old. I'm thinking I might auto allow them and see how the auto spam catcher goes.
Blocked the first time Fen?
TS, it is funny how often the word kind of relates to the content of the post.
A mega buck wants Nigerian princess with GSOH and preferably the daughter of a long lost relative who is a rich Nigerian banking king who is incredibly successful at playing Powerball.
Andrew, no worries, I've had word verification on forever for just that reason and it works very well. I think you are probably safe to take off the two-week moderation thingie.
One of my blog friends had this happen every so often heaps of spam would hit his spot and then come onto us - they were all asian writing and one time had to close my computer down to stop them coming in - disconnect from the net - turn back on the computer and clean them all out - there were hundreds!
Oh no!

I don't mind it, even though at work the word verification is blocked the first time! I put it on mine for the same reason

ReplyDeleteNigerian prince Jayne and I might be interested.
ReplyDeleteLS, pity his country's banking system is so poor.
KN, you were bothered by a lot of spam in the past. Was it because you did not have word verification on then?

ReplyDeleteSounds ghastly MC. I can recall a website that would not stop opening new windows. Only stopped when the computer crashed.
ReplyDeleteyeh, the verification bit is a red X, then once it asks me to do it again I can see it, go figure.
ReplyDeleteNever seen that Fen. Off for now anyway.
