Banks, financial institutions and governments almost caused a collapse of the world economy. Not that they are paying. Your average Tom, Dick and Harriet must pay with cuts to government spending, reduced pensions etc etc. It is an absolute disgrace that it was allowed to happen. Pity Wikileaks wasn't around a bit earlier to expose what was happening behind the scenes.
Argh, it just makes me angry, so forgive me for not feeling sympathy for those who ride around in Bentleys and get pelted with paint by protesting students who are seeing a trippling of their university fees. I wish the Irish, who are among the worst affected, would get off their bums and take a bit of action.

The day those well-paid fat cats are made to earn their salary AND have it capped - or *shock* have it reduced, I will happily pee on the buggers should they unfortunately catch alight.
ReplyDeleteAt least Camilla joked "There's a first for everything!"
ReplyDeleteOnly who's going to pay for the 1977 Rolls Royce, hope the Royals have insurance or will it be the taxpayers...
Jayne, the readily use the buzz words performance based pay. Pity it doesn't apply to them, or they would be getting a negative salary.
ReplyDeleteNot a first for Charlie Battenberg though Peter. I read that it was a Bentley which is not so different to a Roller, but given you even have the year, I expect you are correct. I guess insurance will pay, but who pays the premium?
From what I hear the price rise is huge. From memory I paid around 1200 pound for the year when I studied there. Which is pretty damn good.

Fen, I think the fee has tripled to $14,000, so that would make the old fee $4,600. You got cheated. Happens to foreign students.
ReplyDeleteANY genuine demo is going to be joined by numbnuts who just like a brawl.
ReplyDeleteThe government seems to have ignored the people though. They learned nothing from the revolution in France obviously.
The foreshortening of the arm disguises it, but Milla is clearly throwing a protective arm across HRH. Her Dallas-1963-moment I think.
Interesting that there is just this one photo of them in the car in the skirmish and the owner of it can now retire on the proceeds.
HRH has probably sacked his driver and security manager by now, and I have to concur.
It was provocative of them to be driving near riots. The people are so distracted by mortgages and toys with screens now, the won't revolt. Pity.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't a foreign student, I was a Home student. Foreign students fees for the year were upwards of 7 thousand pound. I paid 1200.
ReplyDeleteYep Fen. I misread your figure as 12000.
ReplyDeleteAre there any irish actually living in Ireland any more???Many are fleeing
ReplyDeleteMC, I hope Ireland has good social security. Our local cafes are filling with Irish lasses. They are always nice and friendly.
