Organ Donation Week

This is organ donation week here in Aus. If you are dead, you just ain't gonna need any of your organs, so why not donate them. A close friend received an organ from a dead person and it saved her life. Formalise the process by registering and let your family and friends know. You're not going to be truly selfish and want to keep your organs even if you are dead surely?

Look, I can't make it simpler. Just click here.

  1. I, and my excellent non-smoker lungs are on the register, and the bone-marrow register (I had a first-round match once and got very excited), and I have donated to The Blood Bank 13 times. **halo**

  3. Good for you Brownie. Very public spirited.

Hmm, I did not look really Fen, but often the guv makes online forms very difficult.

  4. I'm donating my brain to Miss Jahteh. It has an eerie glow. She can keep it in a box, open it to frighten Aunt Selma.

  7. I get you not donating your eyes Cazzie. I just heard tonight that they may use your heart but just the valves. I never thought of that. I want my whole heart to be used, not it chopped up into bits. Regardless, nothing will be used without discussion with family etc.

Don't count on that Andrew - they already take parts of deceased bodies without anybody knowing (family that is).

Became aware of this when worked for a hospital here in Sydney and was dispatched to the morgue to collect the parts for surgery.

  9. Thanks Anon. The official policy sounds very sound. I really wonder why people care so much about what happens to their body when they are dead. Like what I said about my heart, who really cares and I won't know.
